Preparation:

I started preparing for CAT in July 2009 for CAT 2010, basically this was the time when I photocopied my friend's CAT preparation material :P, I didn't join any regular coaching class except Mock-CAT in July2009 because I was never serious about CAT. I was strong in Quant and DI, so while preparing my main focus was on only Verbal part. I efficiently used my daily 2 hours of traveling time and lecture hours for CAT studies.I went through my friend's preparation material once during July - August period. I was very regular with Mock-CAT so that helped me in preparing. Also I used material from websites for DI and Verbal part.
I was never worried about the maths and logic related things. In these sections, speed was my strength but accuracy was haunting me, so I brushed up maths concepts and was always curious to solve difficult problems. My major weakness was verbal, for that I worked on grammar and GRE flash cards.

Advice to juniors:

Find out your strengths and weaknesses, Try to get familiar with difficult topics, Solve as many questions as you can and always revise the concepts. Focus on Mock-CATs, give each paper seriously and do thorough analysis 2 times after EACH Mock exam and once you get the result. Don't loose your confidence if you are not scoring well in a particular section, work hard and it will pay out on the D-day. If you work hard and follow the correct strategy considering your ability, its not at all difficult to get into IIMs or any other good B School. Be confident and work hard !!! :)

Experience in MBA Institute:

The faculty is good. Finance and Marketing domain faculties are awesome. All of them are well experienced and have intense industrial knowledge. I would rate nine on a scale of ten. For visiting faculty, it is a ten on ten without any doubt.
Campus is situated atop a scenic hillock named Prabandh-Shikhar, and truly worth for its name as "Planet-I". IIM I has a solid infrastructure ranging from a very beautiful campus and hostels to a strong IT backbone. It has 13 hostel blocks and 3 ER blocks; every block has a square in the center which has basketball and/or badminton courts and/or lawns. Each hostel block has a common room where facilities such as wall-mounted televisions, printers, table-tennis tables and carrom and chess games are available. New sport complex consists of swimming pool , squash court, world class auditorium. Dedicated mess facilities and round the clock canteen facilities are available in the hostels. Because of all this and many more, campus life becomes awesome.
