Preparation:

I appeared for CAT on November 3, 2010 but coaching classes had already started a year back. As must be the case with everyone else, studies started on a regular basis 3 months prior to CAT. Frankly speaking I was not following any schedule. I did what I liked and whenever I wished to. I revised my concepts during the last week to CAT. Managing it with my regular engineering calender was tough but I tried to strike a balance between both academics and CAT studies.
My time allocation in MOCK CATs and the final CAT was nearly the same :30 minutes of Quant (which was my strength), 45 Minutes of Logic-DI & 60 Minutes of Verbal (which was my weakness). If I finished going through the entire paper before time, I would spend the remaining time trying to maximize at the Quant section.

Advice to juniors:

Coaching classes are not necessary but join them. Proper guidance is required and make sure you get the best out of it. Approach professors when you are confused what to do and which exams to take. Study what you feel you are weak in. Don't spend too much time on one subject. Keep switching subjects/topics. If you do not have the habit of reading, make sure you develop it soon. Reading novels, newspapers (especially Economic Times), magazines improves your verbal skills and also trains you well for the Group Discussion stage.
When you want to join any MBA institute make sure you have a purpose. Its all upon you to leverage the facilities and exploit opportunities given to you in a B-School.

Experience in MBA Institute:

The faculty at IMT, Ghaziabad is superb. They are pragmatic and offer quality teaching. Case studies and activities ensure that the entire class participates. Infrastructure and campus life is what IMT can boast about. People are really chilled out and the amphitheatre, badminton court, basketball court ,football ground and cafetria are all class apart. Altogether worth a living. Average age should be 22 to 23 with 50:50 ratio of freshers and experienced students. IMT Ghaziabad is a student run institute with administration not taking part in accomodation and any student related activities. Hostels facilities are damn good.

I wanted to pursue career in Marketing and what better than IMT, Ghaziabad so called the best B-School for Marketing. Proud to be IMT'ian.
