NMAT - NMIMS Management Aptitude Test - MBA Entrance Exams | Management (MBA,MMS,PGDM)
NMIMS Management Aptitude Test (NMAT)
General Description:
NMIMS conducts its own entrance exam for admission to its institutes in Mumbai, Shirpur, Bangalore and Hyderabad. This is a relatively easy test, far more straightforward as compared to the CAT, and other exams like XAT. A very unique feature of the NMAT is the fact that you can attempt it more than once in the same year, and they consider the best of two or three scores. You have to pay for each attempt though, of course.
Accepting Institutes:
The NMIMS campuses in Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Shirpur accept NMAT scores.
Dates:
The exam is normally held over a period of about 60 days, sometime between October and January. That’s when you can take your 1, 2 or 3 cracks at it, and make a nice little donation to the NMIMS cause in the process.
Eligibility:
- The candidate must be a graduate with 50% marks or equivalent CGPA in first attempt.
- Candidates appearing for the final year of bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed degree requirements and are awaiting results can also apply subject to clearing the final examination in first attempt with 50% aggregate marks.
- For all the Full Time programs, candidates with two or more years of post-qualification work experience will be preferred.
Format and Peculiarities:
The NMAT is a simple online test, divided into three sections. Students have a total of 120 minutes to attempt as many questions out of 120 as possible. Negative marking is normally absent, but they have sectional cutoffs.

One thing you may want to note is that the final NMAT scores in the past couple of years haven’t been without their fair share of controversy. The scoring pattern was not clear and many students complained of expecting far higher scores than what they ended up with.
The NMAT is a computer-based test conducted over a period of 10 weeks
You can select your test date and slot based on choice and availability
Tips:
Normally, a score of about 225 (ie, 75 correct answers) out of 360 is considered quite healthy. Clearly, you need to attempt as many questions as possible to get such a score. Since the test is relatively easy, speed is very very important. The more you attempt, the better are your chances of reaching the 225 mark.
