Gujarat Engg. Admission Notifications 2013
May 23, 2013

Admissions to Engineering courses in the state of Gujarat (Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar) for the academic year 2013-14 will begin from May 24, 2013. Students who are looking for a seat in Engineering Colleges in Gujarat have to Register on or before June 5.

Unlike last year, Gujarat did not conduct a separate state entrance test (GUJCET) for the year 2013. It is, by far, the only state in the country who has agreed for the 'One Nation. One Test' model for this year.

Admissions to engineering colleges affiliated to Gujarat Technological University (GTU) will be based on the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main. Results for the same have been announced on May 7 on the JEE Main Website.

Engineering aspirants from Gujarat should register on gujacpc.in till June 5.

40% weightage to JEE in Gujarat
Feb 8, 2013

The state government of Gujarat has decided that while making the final merit list for engineering and other professional courses, it will stick to the old formula of giving 60% weightage to the marks scored in science subjects in the HSC board examination, while 40% weightage will be given to the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE).

Till last year, just like other states, Gujarat used to conduct its state entrance test (GUJCET) but starting this year (2013-14), it is the only state in India who agreed for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) for admissions to engineering colleges in Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar and other regions of the state which are affiliated to GTU and Deemed Universities (like DAIICT, PDPU, Indus, etc.).  As per the guidelines of the Union ministry of education, it was preferable if the state gives 50% weightage while making merit list to JEE but eventually the decision boiled down to not be less than 40% for JEE.  JEE is compulsory for those who are seeking admissions in engineering colleges.

The written examination (pencil-paper test) will be held on April 7 while the online examination (computer based test) will be held between April 8 and April 25.
