State government is planning to grant autonomy to the prestiguous and oldest engineering colleges in the state of Gujarat. Eight engineering colleges, including the top notch LD College of Engineering (LDCE), are going to seek autonomous status very soon.
This move will allow these fantastic engineering colleges to regain their lost glory of producing quality engineers and simultaneously expand their academic horizons. The institutions can decide their own curriculum, conduct their own exams and thus improving their current form.
"We have issued a GR (Government Notification) for this as well. The engineering colleges like LD College of Engineering in Ahmedabad and Lukhdhirji Engineering College, Morbi, will be granted autonomy", says Hasmukh Adhia - Principal Secretary of state education department. "It has been agreed in principle that all these institutes will be having their own board of governors, which will be headed by an eminent person from the society as its chairman. However, in the begining these institutions will have operational and academic autonomy only", he added.
The autonomous status is very important for some of the finest engineering colleges in the country to enhance the performance of the students, build a solid reputation country-wide and educating students to opt for higher education.
