Students of Parshvanath Engineering College, Thane, which is now de-affiliated from Mumbai University, have been left stranded as the results for December 2012 for second and third year of engineering have not been declared by the college.

Future of over 1,000 students is uncertain. After the Supreme Court’s order last year, the students were transferred to other engineering colleges and the University of Mumbai was entrusted to take care of their exam results.

Students who had repeated semester 3, 4, 5 and 6 had given their exams in December 2012, at Parshvanath College, which was functioning at that time. As per the rules, if a college loses the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) tag then it is the university’s job to assess exam papers and declare the results.

Now, hundreds of students are visiting the varsity to get their results. A mechanical engineering student who is waiting for his third semester results said, “As the results are not declared yet, I am unable to apply for the fourth semester exam.”

Meanwhile, the colleges who have been forced to admit these students have written to the varsity in February asking them to declare the results at the earliest. “Instead of harassing the students, varsity officials should accept their shortcomings and give reasons for the delay,” said a professor from a city engineering college.

A varsity official said, “We have not received the records of students from the college. The college has not sent the students’ records to Pravesh Niyantran Samiti which is mandatory.”

However, PRO of Parshvanath College, Sameer Nanivadekar, said, “We have submitted the answer sheets to the varsity in January along with a Rs. 1 lakh cheque and a letter requesting to collect the records of the students from the college. No one from varsity has approached us till now.”
