Job Description:
I work as a sofware developer in the Java domain.
My team works on an important Middle Office application that handles positions on deals for BNP Paribas. We work on improving the application by adding new features to it.
Experience at Work:
It's been an immense learning experience. The level of exposure and quality of work makes BNP Paribas ISPL a great place to work. There is no bench concept like service based companies at BNP. This gives you a lot a lot of opportunity to work on projects. My project has given me exposure to many new frameworks and technologies , for which I am very thankful. Finally, the onsite prospects are particulary good for those in testing/support.
Advice to the juniors:
Extra curriculars may / may not play a role, depends entirely on the interviewer. A little extra knowledge about finance/ business might tilt things in your favour seeing that BNP is a bank! Technical proficiency takes precedence over everything else.
Do the small things right and the bigger things will fall into place: Once you start working you'll have a steep learning curve ahead of you, but if you have the right attitude you should be okay.
Work hard on strengthening your basic concepts. Practice as many mock PIs as you can until you feel confident about the real one. Every poor interview helps you improve for the next one so keep your chin up! All the best!
