Students often crib about their faculty not being able to teach them satisfactorily. Most of the teachers are said to be freshers, either pursuing M.Tech themselves or just done with it. Students claim that the lecturers have little or no teaching experience and many lack basic communication skills as well. “But they try their best and improvements are expected” comments a third-year student. Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) department is said to have slightly better faculty as compared to the other departments of Anurag College of Engineering. Mechanical engineering students feel the most unfortunate as they do not have sufficient teachers.

Once you manage to reach the college, it’s very peaceful (who’s gonna be disturbing you 30kms away from the city anyway!). The campus is spread over 25-30 acres and students have no complaints as far as academic infrastructure is concerned. Labs are well-furnished and a newly constructed library block is home to a sufficient number of books. There’s Wi-Fi connectivity in most parts of the campus but, unfortunately, it is password protected at present. Internet access is provided to students through a digital library. However, students complain about lack of sports facilities. There’s no hostel facilities provided despite college being so remotely located. Luckily, Ghatkesar is home to numerous private hostels and non-localites aren’t inconvenienced.

The first batch of Anurag College of Engineering passed out in 2012 and students claim that only a couple of students managed to get jobs on-campus. The rest had to look for work off-campus or opt for higher studies.

Anurag College of Engineering is 7-8 kilometres beyond Ghatkesar, a distant suburb in North-Eastern Hyderabad. Since most RTC buses cater areas up to Ghatkesar (about 20 kms from central Hyderabad), students have to rely on district buses to travel the remaining distance. And that’s when their troubles begin – these buses do not follow schedules, they are overcrowded and they may not even stop where you want them to. Even after this arduous journey, students have to walk the last 2 kilometres on foot before reaching the campus. That is probably why nearly half the frustrated students have opted for the college bus service in spite of the excruciatingly high charges (Rs. 15,000/year for the whole journey or Rs. 3,000 up to Ghatkesar)

This is another area which needs a makeover; there’s not enough space to sit comfortably, food tastes horrible and hygiene is compromised. However, there’s no relaxation on the prices in spite of repeated complaints by students.

As the college is one of the furthest from Hyderabad city, localites do not prefer coming here. Number of students coming neighbouring rural areas and other parts of the state is more than those coming from Hyderabad. There’s hardly any interaction between girls and guys as majority of those studying here are conservative in nature. And it’s best to know Telegu before joining Anurag College of Engineering, unless you plan to stay mum for the next four years.

‘Texzellenz 2k12’ was the first ever college-fest celebrated at Anurag College of Engineering in September-end. It was a technical festival which witnessed decent participation from students of this college as well as a few neighbouring colleges. Students hope that this trend will continue every year.

Anurag College of Engineering is strict about attendance and students are expected to maintain 75% attendance with a further relaxation of 5% being granted if genuine reasons are provided and a fine of Rs. 250-500 is paid. Below 70% fines proportional to the lack in the attendance are levied. Students claim that between 60-70% they have to shell out Rs. 1500 while those with 40-60% have to pay anything between Rs. 2000 to Rs.3000. Defaulters beyond 40% are detained.
As there’s no defined boundary enclosing the college premises, Anurag College of Engineering hasn’t been able to successfully implement a closed-gate system. Students are free to move in and out of the campus as they wish.

Anurag College of Engineering may not be the worst college in Ghatkesar region, but there’s a hell lot of changes required for it to be counted amongst one of the better colleges. “Not recommended” concludes a final-year student.

Even the most active volcanoes don't display so much activity. I'm sure you guys definitely have a pool of million more ideas bubbling to get executed...waiting for next while trying my hands at the community. At one look looks like google+ with its clean and elegant interface.
