Faculty of Govt. RC College of Commerce are not great. Many seniors are there but they lack the enthusiasm to teach. Also communication is a major issue; they’re not really comfortable with English.

Infrastructure can said to be pretty good considering it’s a government college. Though the classrooms aren’t air-conditioned, they are well-ventilated and comfortable. Library is also very good and contains volumes of commerce and management related books.

A lot of companies, many of which are call-centres and BPO companies do come for recruitment. But students here not being good in soft skills can’t crack most interviews, so finally about 20%-30% end up getting a job. The salaries offered to fresher ranges in 10k to 15k a month.

Location of Govt. RC College is very convenient in terms of accessibility. It’s in the heart of Bangalore and equidistant from both Majestic & Shivajinagar bus stations.

Hostels are provided by the college at extremely subsidized rates of about 3000 a year. Their condition is also decent and rarely anyone complains about it. There are no individual or sharing based rooms available, it’s a dormitory system they follow. The only disadvantage is that hostel is far; it’s in Banashankari.

Canteen is mediocre – it’s the type where you can eat once in a while if you forgot your tiffin or are too lazy to go out to eat but most certainly can’t have your food daily over here. But the prices are very cheap – an Idli is for Rs 8, Dosa for Rs 12 while a full meal will cost only 15 bucks.

A lot of nice places are there around the college. Some of the most popular destinations for students when they bunk lectures are Mantri Square, Commercial Street, Cunningham Road and Freedom Park.

As the fees of this college are almost negligible, a lot of people from in & around Bangalore try for it. So a mix of urban and rural crowd is seen. Also many students here are doing some part time jobs to gain experience and earn their pocket money. Girls to boys ratio in this college is about 1 : 2.

‘Srujana-RC’ is the annual inter-college cultural fest of Govt. RC College of commerce held in February each year. There’s also a separate management festival but it’s on a smaller scale.

Attendance is not much of an issue here. Up to 50% is okay without facing any troubles. Below 50% they make you run around a bit but any serious action is hardly taken.
