Overall there are a lot of young, inexperienced faculties in HKBK College of Engineering. In each branch there is only a couple of senior staff who teach well. IS branch has seen a lot positive change in the faculties and it is considered as the best branch in the college. Other branches have just average members.

college like most other in Bangalore is best for students who can take care of their own studies, it's not that all senior lecturers are great, some of the Junior lecturers do teach well.

The college sees average placements. IT firms like Wipro and Siemens generally come for recruitment. Even a couple of BPO companies had come which is really bad for an engineering student. About 60% to 65% students from CS and IS branches mange to secure a job. Other branches do not get any core companies. The highest package offered was 3.6 lakhs.

The college is surrounded by semi-urban areas on all sides. However the accessibility is pretty good as the nearest bus-stop is located on the outer ring road and a lot of buses ply here from Majestic and Shivajinagar. It is about 8 minutes’ walk from college to the bus-stop through a dusty patch of road. Most of the students prefer coming by their own or friends’ bikes.

It has improved a lot after frequent complains and a signature campaign. You can have a variety of tasty dishes at reasonable prices over here. Students feel that it should be bigger and more spacious

It is difficult to find anything in the almost rural surroundings. There’s one Royal restaurant and a Mubarak restaurant which are frequented by students for the lack of anything better. There also used to be a ‘Mama’s shop’ – a paradise sort of place for smokers which is shut as it was in the 100 meters radius of the college. The rumours have it that it’s opening again soon.

You can find a decent crowd in this college. They are all friendly and helpful. There are a lot of people from north too. They’re about 40% of the total strength. The girls to boys ratio is around 2 : 3.

“Calypso” is the annual intra-college cultural festival held in April. The festival is not at all happening as the management doesn’t encourage extra-curricular activities and provides very less budget for it.

Just one fest and freshers day conducted (don't hope to have some DJ party or something like what other college conducts every year)

The college asks for 75% attendance. But you can manage with up to 60% by paying fines ranging from 100 to 1000 per subject. Below 60% there are good chances that you’ll not be allowed to write the final exams.
A few disciplinary rules are strictly followed on this college like you can’t wear graphic t-shirts; you can’t use mobile phones inside the campus and girls and boys should sit separate in class. There are fines for not following these rules and students are scared to breathe freely here as they don’t know what the consequences might be.

You’ll get an engineering degree in HKBK College of Engineering. You might even get a job if you’re lucky. But there is absolutely no college life nor is any learning.

Few irrelevant changes for Eg: "tutorial classes" etc is really a waste for students, School headmaster like attitude doesn't do for youth.
have seen students who lose academic year are very badly treated instead of being offered the help.
Overall it's a fine place but it can be much better from a student's perspective.
