Every department has just a few senior faculties; the rest being mere fresher. The seniors are very qualified, many of them even having their PhDs and they’re experienced too in both teaching in core industry. But the problem lies with the juniors, most of whom due to their inexperience are not able to teach well and they bring the reputation of the overall institution down. Also the major complaints are for faculties taking first year subjects as for higher years and core subjects only seniors are assigned. But the good part is that all teachers, including juniors are hard-working and are try to help out students as much as they can.

The campus is vast but all the available space is not utilized properly. Some parts seem to be under construction, due to on-going paintwork and external finishing but interiors are perfect. The main building, which older among the two, has front face of glass walls giving it a corporate look. There’s a model of aeroplane suspended from the ceiling near the entrance of this building. There are also a couple of real planes and an aircraft shed brought up especially for aero students. Classes are well-ventilated and comfortable. Labs are great; they are very well-equipped and have some high-end equipment which is rarely found any engineering college. Canteen and the admin block in main building are Wi-Fi zones and students have free access to it. Their library is quite spacious and resourceful. There are many reference books and text books in multiple copies, all of which are managed by computerized software.

As Indus Institute of Technology & Engineering is backed by a well-established company called Electrotherm India Ltd, they have strong industry connections. College tries to bring in many companies and they also help students groom up for placements. They promise 100% placements and most of the students do in fact manage to get placed. Both IT & core companies come for recruitment; a few students also go in teaching field.
Only time will tell how Indus University fares in placement once the first batch comes out i.e by 2016.

Indus University is located on western outskirts of Ahmedabad in a remote village called Rancharda. It is highly inaccessible and you have to either travel by college bus or your own vehicles as public transport extremely unreliable. Many people travel by college buses till SG Highway from where many connections by AMTS are available. Charges for college bus depend on distance and the maximum that you’ll need to pay. The more adventurous folks can also try the shortcut to Shilaj that goes along a canal and passes from all the villages en route.

There are hostels available for boys and girls both in the campus. The rooms in hostels are pretty decent but food is not up to the mark. Best part about hostels is that there is Wi-Fi connectivity here.

The canteen of Indus University is quite spacious but it accommodates only few students due to improper seating arrangements. It also serves as the hostel mess, thus you mostly get meals over here. There is also a Nescafe stall on the campus where you can get snacks like Sandwich, Maggi, Puff and cold drinks. Students generally prefer Nescafe over canteen to buy food from while canteen is generally chosen to sit and have your own food.

Students having rich friends in their group go to Kalhar Bungalows to chill. Others either go to famous hangouts on SG Highway like PVR Acropolis or just hang around the college taking in the beauty of Mother Nature.

While majority of the crowd is your standard engineering crowd, there are some people known to cause troubles every once in a while. There are many students from Gujarati medium backgrounds who often have difficulties interacting with others during first couple of semesters. Thankfully there are also many friendly and fun-loving people around. On the whole the crowd isn’t great but if you can find right kind of friends then your college life will be enjoyable.

Rhapsody is the annual cultural & sports festival of Indus Institute of Technology & Engineering. College is not very keen on holding this fest and each year students need to plead and pursue management to let them organize it.

Attendance has been very strict since the college became autonomous i.e Indus University. 80% attendance is a must and although no serious action is usually taken against defaulters, they will never let you be a defaulter by giving frequent warnings. Apart from attendance, there are some other restrictions which are in place. For instance girls often complain about not being allowed to wear Capri or sleeveless dresses even during hot summers.

NOTE: Indus University is now a deemed university. Earlier it was under GTU and was known as Indus Institute of Technology & Engineering (IITE).
Established in 2008, Indus Institute of Technology & Engineering (IITE) has built a good reputation for itself in Ahmedabad in short span. It has great infrastructure and decent placements too. Students speculate that due to formation of Indus University, faculties and academic standards are bound to improve rapidly.
