The college is now under the KSV University, so that it can follow its own course, and develop a curriculum of its own. So even the faculty has convenience to teach in their own style, and not be following a standard GTU fashion of doing things. All the professors are highly qualified and also well experienced teachers. Mechanical department has the most notable faculty (not that others are not), but one of the mech faculty member, teaches students in a unique way. He opens up his own car; a Swift diesel and teaches students and lets them observe the working of the parts. Students are quite pleased with the approachable nature of the faculties, and have high regards for them. But remember, if you are irregular in taking lectures, you might just be troubled during the submissions, but don’t worry you would be regular because the classes are interesting.

LDRP is separated into different blocks; 2 engineering and a diploma block. The campus is not vast, but yet quite big for a college inside a city. The infrastructure looks modern and the space well planned. There is nice green cover throughout the campus. The main building is semi circular in shape, and the plan is quite unique. Labs have all been redesigned, and updated with the latest equipments which are maintained well. The classes are not air conditioned, but are comfortable and spacious nonetheless. In fact students say its pleasant all the time, and the cross ventilation design is good. The library, by what the students say is an excellent, big and spacious. Air conditioned interiors, and well planned book management system. But the issues here is the number of copies, about 4 to 5, which falls short, but students manage anyway. The internet labs are where students get to use the internet, and for those on their laptops, the entire campus is Wi-Fi enabled but there are some minor restrictions.

This year the students say that the placements were low owing to the recession hit IT market. This year about 25% students managed to get on-campus placements. There are a couple of core engineering companies also coming in for the Mechanical and Electrical department students. TechMahindra, L&T, and Patni were the major recruiters. The average salary offered to the students was about Rs.3,50,000 and the highest was Rs.4.75 Lakh. The Placement officer also sends out regular email notifications to students regarding opening, and other updates.

Well, those who live in Gandhinagar might find the college most convenient to reach. The college is located in Sector 15, near KH 5 circle, just beside the ITI campus. VTCOS buses make travelling inside Gandhinagar convenient. For those who travel from Ahmedabad its bit of a hassle. Travelling by GSRTC buses time and money wise are a better option. Sharing rickshaws are available from RTO and Kalupur areas. ST buses are frequent from Gandhinagar, but getting to other parts of Ahmedabad from the Northern exit would take time. Taking a BRTS from RTO would also be convenient. The college also provides a bus service.

Top Hostels Reviews ALL Hostels REVIEWS

The hostel is the last block of the campus, and looks good. For both the boys and the girls hostels; the rooms are big enough to accommodate 6 people, but only 4 people are put up in the rooms. The facilities are decent, with attached bathrooms, and individual cupboards. The mess is unusually good, in fact it is so good that even the trustees drop by at time to have their meals here. The menu is set for an entire week, and once a month the students have a feast. Te hostel also provides for a laundry service, so don’t have to worry about getting your hands dirty for clean clothes.
A small issue is that the timings restrictions need to be followed thoroughly and no student is allowed in the hostel during the college hours. Paying guest options are also available around the college. Things are basically deserted and dark in Gandhinagar after 7 PM, and you would not find many on the streets, so activities slows down by then, and students are suppose to get back to the hostel by 7pm (its 10 PM for guys though). Rooms are clean, and so is the mess.

LDRP has 2 canteens on campus, and a mess for the hostelites. Vendors are both the canteens are different, and one of the canteens is built recently. The space is designed well in the new canteen. The old canteen is open till late, so hostelites can grab some quick snacks while the dinner at the mess is not ready. Also at the KH 5 circle, you can relish upon a lot of road side junk, which is always tasty.

Akshardham Temple in Sector 20 is a popular hangout destination to spend time with friends. Or since getting out of the college once you’ve entered in, students at times don’t enter the college and directly head out to where they plan. Hanging around roadside is also pleasant most times of the year. There are plenty of eateries outside, and Vada Pav and puff are famous. A couple of junctions away in CH 3, is located Cinemax- a multiplex movie theatre, shopping mall, and getting there is convenient by sharing autos.

Majority of the crowd is from Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad. Students are mix of urban and rural backgrounds; many also come from nearby rural areas like Kalol. As LDRP is considered among the top colleges in Gujarat, it is bound to attract the attention of nerds too. The crowd is generally lively and approachable. Students mostly prefer spending free time in the campus by roaming around in campus or studying/having food on lawns. After it came under KSVU it has become very strict and students can hardly bunk, although lawns are not absolutely deserted even now.

The techfest of LDRP is called ‘Genesis’ and is held together with the pharmacy departments. The cultural festival here is open to just KSV University students, ad is a decent event. There’s dance, fashion show, quizzes, and a Garba night during the Navratri festival. People participate with a lot of zeal and the campus buzzes with activities during the festivals.

This factor depends upon every department, and things work according to the discretion of departments. Students say that Electrical department is the most strict, whereas Mechanical is the most flexible. This does not mean bunking lectures would be taken lightly. During the lecture hours, no one is supposed to be roaming around in the campus or the lobbies. You cannot leave the college campus during the college hours either.
The college is stricter with students of the 1st and last year, and much relaxed for the 2nd and 3rd year students.

Note: LDRP ITR which was earlier under GTU, is now a constituent of Kadi Sarva Vishwavidyalaya University (KSVU), Gadhinagar - a deemed university.
Students residing in Gandhinagar give LDRP the first preference over other colleges, and mechanical is a hot favourite. College life you can enjoy, but the restrictions have become a bit irritating. The faculties and the practical exposure is decent, while about 80% people take up IDP’s in the last year, work with the company, and try to get jobs there itself.
