No BE or BTech graduates are allowed to teach in the college as MTech is mandatory. Most of the teachers are the senior most and respected teachers from Bhopal. The teachers provide notes to the students and in terms of satisfaction levels, students from Oriental Institute of Science & Technology are highly satisfied.

Oriental Institute of Science & Technology has a decent 17 acre campus. The Oriental campus is one of the oldest engineering campuses of Bhopal. All the facilities in the college are undisputedly one of the best in Bhopal city. The laboratories in Oriental Institute of Science & Technology are old but the best laboratory facilities in Bhopal, the college has lived up to its name of providing good facilities to the students. The CS and IT labs are air conditioned. The mechanical laboratory is considered the best facility in the college. Classes too, are spacious, well ventilated and although old, make up for a good atmosphere. Even the library facilities are top notch in the Oriental Campus with 2 dedicated floors for the same. The college campus has its own sports ground which is used well by the students.

Placements in Oriental Institute of Science & Technology are one of the best in Bhopal. Oriental Institute of Science & Technology and Oriental college of Technology together has the 2nd highest number of record placements after LNCT in Bhopal. Almost every 2nd student gets placed before the final exams while the others also get placed soon enough. Cognizant technologies, Infosys and Wipro are the top recruiters with the highest package going up to 6.5-7 Lakh per annum and average around 3.5 lakh per annum.

It is located just before the NRI Campus. The college has a well developed bus service covering the entire city of Bhopal. There are a total of 3 hostels for the students of which 2 are for girls while one is for boys. The hostels offer good facilities. The food is average and is managed by private caterers but again, these are the best one can get in Bhopal city. The college has a mini bank kiosk and Oriental bank of Commerce ATM within the campus.

The cumulative campus has 2 canteens and both are really good. Oriental Institute of Science & Technology has a big canteen which serves a variety of things like chips, drinks and other fast food.

Crowd in Oriental Institute of Science & Technology is really good with most students from MP itself. As the college is one of the top preferred colleges in the city, most of the seats get filled up really quickly by the bright students of the city. Girl to boy ratio is poor in Mechanical and Civil branches with only a few girls opting for these core courses but in other branches like CS , ECE and IT girls are almost same in number as the boys. Students are both lively and good in studies. The college produces many of the university toppers. The only negative point is the fact that the college is a little strict with its rules and reduces space for students.

Tech Acme is the annual sports, cultural and technical festival celebrated by Oriental Institute of Science & Technology and Oriental college of Technology together. As the colleges are really famous, the festival also takes place on a pretty decent level with any colleges from Bhopal participating.

Oriental Institute of Science & Technology is strict about the attendance and less than 60% is not safe in the college. The college not only imposes fines but also summons parents of those defaulting. Students having really poor attendance are harassed with extra assignments but no student is detained.

Although the student life in Oriental Institute of Science and Technology is not as free as the students would have liked, the college is one of the top colleges in Bhopal often ranking the top 5 colleges of the city.
