Faculty is very nice overall. But frankly they derive sadistic pleasure in not giving marks to students. All the faculty members of the various faculties are very very helpful nevertheless. Although communication takes place in English, the teachers make it a point to get their message across to students, in the language they are comfortable with; so that learning is not affected with language as a hurdle. Students with the strength of 180(in the first year) find it hard to eshtablish a rapport with the teacher on a personal level.

Library is good; it’s called the Ratan Tata Library which is huge and spacious, and considered to be one of the best in Asia. In a word, awesome. Good classrooms are a nice thing. The college does not have a gym, no sports or any recreational facilities. In fact, no sporting activities are allowed in the campus itself.
Centre for development of Economics is the place to go for getting all the resources you need during the course. Internet and Wi-fi facilities are also available at the same.

Takes place for students of the Economics and the Commerce faculties, but it is certainly not 100%. But wait for the salaries of students who do get placed. Salaries of 12 Lakh to 20 Lakh Rupees a year have been offered to students of the DSE. Job profiles being Sales Analytics, and Market Research. Companies like Nomura, Citi Group, Goldman Sachs visit the campus. Although there is no placement for the Humanities departments, the students generally look out for off-campus jobs in Town planning and Development sectors. Pretty interesting. The rest look for PhD’s from foreign universities who need 60% marks, and at least 2 recommendations from the senior professors.

Located in the North Campus of Delhi University, Delhi School of Economics is situated in the centre of the campus and is easily noticeable by the blue sign boards at regular intervals following which you can get to the college. The nearest metro station is Vishwavidyalaya (Yes, the name of the station is because of the university and thus one can understand how famous and reputed the campus is) on the Yellow Line and is a minute walk from the main gate of the campus. There are hundreds of cycle rickshaws right at the gate of the university and outside every college. The DTC bus frequency, especially for the North campus, is pretty awesome and drops you to the college gate. Some prefer to come by their private vehicles while a few choose to walk to the college. In short, accessibility is not a problem and connectivity is superb.
NOTE: There is a bicycle stand right outside the gate of the university which provides bicycles on a rental basis. The cost is Rs. 10 for four hours. Can’t expect anything cheaper than this!

The students who want to live in the hostels can live at the Delhi University’s (allocation of which is based on student’s ranks). Paying Guest accommodations are also easily available around the college.

The canteen is a good place and a nice option for people to have their meals. Food is not dirt cheap or ultra expensive either. The cost is just what students would not mind paying at a decent college canteen. The most popular menu being the Dosa.

At the North campus, you can expect one of the best hangouts in Kamla Nagar Market. There are various coffee chains like CCD and Barista, several fresh fruit juice parlours, chole bhatures roadside and many more. The Ridge is generally jam packed with lovely couples of all the colleges within the campus. J.P tea stall within the college is also a common hangout for all the students. Movie lovers are seen in Plaza at Connaught Place (CP).

If you’re at the Delhi School of Economics (D-school) you ought to be sure of 2 things; you are a brilliant student, and people around you are brilliant too. Just the cream makes it to DSE. So basically, if being at DU is cool, being at DSE would be one of the things you need to be proud about. And when talking about the diversity of the backgrounds that the students come from, its a rainbow. Students from all over the country, mainly northern India hail here to pursue their higher education.

Campus life is good and even if you’re the most boring person in the world, sitting alone here is also fun. The campus is vibrant with clean gardens, and nice passages all over. The hustle and bustle of students is perpetual here. DSE is in fact a hangout for the entire North campus. Once here, you would never want to leave the place. And to make things cleaner, it is a No Smoking zone, so that you can enjoy your hot tea, and cream roll from the J.P.Tea stall in the campus. In a line: Most centrally accessible and charming place in the entire Delhi University – North Campus.
An annual academic festival ‘Aahaan’ is celebrated every year in February, and is not a huge festival but the students do take active participation, and try to enjoy themselves. Nukkad Natak takes place twice every year, which is good, and entertaining. During the ‘Winter School’ guest lectures and seminars are conducted, where many colleges take part.

Attendance as set by the norms of the Delhi University is 66% which is followed here strictly. In fact internal marks of a student are assessed on the basis of his/her attendance in the class. So basically, you have to attend 85% to ensure full 5 marks, or attendance lesser than 85% will fetch you proportionately lesser marks. That’s one side of it, but there are professors who make lectures interesting to attend, which as quoted by a student “makes life liveable here”.
But the scene in the economics department is quite different where you attend to learn and not just for the attendance.

The Delhi School of Economics is one of the finest colleges in country, be it the academic excellence or the placements. Students here are the ones who would be pushing the knowledge of the subject beyond its current bounds.
