The teachers are very well qualified with a number of them having done their PhDs. Majority of the teachers are post graduate with a good number of years’ experience behind them. There are no teachers who start teaching directly after their graduation. Most of the teachers are very strict and at times can be very rigid. You can have a tough time with them if you do try flexing the submissions dates.

The huge gate at the entrance to Saveetha Engineering College itself will give you a fair idea as to what to expect once inside. Saveetha University campus has a number of buildings adorned in white paint, one of which is for Saveetha Engineering College (Anna University). The classrooms and labs are very okay, they don’t match to the standards the exteriors set.

Saveetha Engineering College is located in the Saveetha University - Chennai (SUC) Campus which is located on NH4. When travelling away from Chennai it comes after Poonamallee. As it is located on the highway, commuting is not a problem. There are many MTC buses plying on this route providing good connectivity to all parts of Chennai.
If your parents are over protective or you are still in the school mode, you can avail the service of the college buses which do transport you from home to college but at a decent cost.

Hostel facilities are available for students. The hostels rooms are not very big but decent and clean. Mess food is edible, that's it, but it becomes monotonous in a few days.

There is no separate canteen for Saveetha Engineering College and students have to manage with just a mess. There is a small store where you get packed food items. There is a canteen in the Saveetha Medical College, which we at Stupidsid will advise you to not rely on. The food there will not be good to your taste buds.

Most of the students come from Chennai. There are many students from other South Indian states too. Very few students from northern parts of country come here. However there are scores of North Indians in autonomous wing of Saveetha University.

Drestien is the annual technical festival organised by the students of Saveetha Engineering College. The college does see a decent footfall due to the number of students from other colleges in the campus also. There are some students even from nearby engineering colleges.

Students at Saveetha Engineering College are expected to have a 100% attendance, and in any case it can’t fall below 75%. For any leave you take, you must present a reason with proof such as a medical certificate in case of an illness.
Formal attire is compulsory for all students; at max the boys can wear a half-sleeve shirt. On certain occasions they have to wear ties also.
Hostels also have a plethora of rules. Hostel is closed during the college hours, so you can’t bunk and stay at hostels. Boys are expected to be back in their rooms by 7pm and for girls even earlier by maximum 6pm. After 8:30 pm there are 'study hours' when students are expected to study.
