When asked about the faculty, the first thing we got to know that the concern here is the number rather than how they teach. Well here they say are ‘enough’, which means unlike other colleges, they never fall short of teachers. Teaching here is not bad, with about 3-4 very qualified professors, and experienced teachers in every department. The rest are new to teaching, or pursuing their masters, and are not really experienced enough. The issue here students face is that by the time they are used to a teacher, they tend to leave the institute in search for better opportunities. Their place is again taken up by someone with little experience. They work hard, and try to do justice to the job nevertheless. Communication is in English, and could be switched to Guajarati or Hindi in case there’s any difficult. Teachers are friendly and have given the students to disturb them even after college at night. But still, studies you would have to manage on your own. In general students rate Civil Department better over all other departments.

Now that we know, that it has a huge plot of land to develop, but it is not so well planned so as to make optimum use of the campus. But all that is needed is provided. Students have no complaints about anything falling short, and are satisfied. The Classrooms are comfortable, and are maintained well. About wifi, the college brochures, and website mention it, but is not available in the campus, but again the work doesn’t stop because of that, as internet labs are available equipped with over a 100 odd machines connected to the internet. The labs are completely equipped with all the equipment needed for the various departments, and all the instruments are maintained too. The library has a decent collection of titles from local and international publications are available too. The number of copies of every book is sufficient and seldom to students have to face an issue with that. The library is well ventilated though not air-conditioned, and there is ample space and arrangement for reading. For sports; there is provision for cricket, football, volleyball, badminton and chess. But the bad part is that nothing out of it is allowed during college hours, and after college since most stay, far prefer leaving for home immediately. So all if just becomes a formality most of the times of the year, and is put to use during the sports week. The area outside is a village, so it can get isolated later in the evening, but is generally considered safe.

Since the college is in its 4th year, there has not been any batch out yet. But talking purely on the eligible students, with an SPI of over 6.5, around 90-95% would be eligible and can expect placements.

Located 3 Kms off the Ahmedabad – Mahesana SH-41 highway, is a village Bhoyan Rathod. Amidst vast stretches of agricultural land you see a constructed structure and a big workshop type structure, that’s the college. The load leading from the highway to the college is seriously weathered, and will give you your daily dose of adventure while reaching the college. But the ride is scenic nevertheless, with peacocks roaming around in the fields as a regular thing. Owning to the poor location and connectivity of the place, the collage has arranged for mini buses and runs 7 routes for picking up students from all parts of Ahmedabad. The yellow buses give you a feel of school life again. But this concept of college bus is not new for colleges in and around Ahmedabad as connectivity is an issue. For those who want to reach college on their own, take public buses till ONGC and then take sharing rickshaws for 5 bucks per person. The college doesn’t provide for a hostel facility yet, and there is nothing for PG’s also around. So basically everyone has to travel to get to the college. It’s just far from anywhere in the city, in fact Kalol is closer than Ahmedabad from here.

Canteen is a complete letdown. Students find the packed stuff like wafers and biscuits edible, everything else is a risk. Space is not crammed, there is enough seating available too, but the main thing, food; that’s what fails to connect and please. It’s not run by professional caterers, but more like a kitchen you see in big homes. Just that this still fails to deliver. There is no care taken for hygiene, and students complain of noticing rats run around in the area. Dogs are also frequent visitors, but are beaten and shooed out. Ouch, those blows inflicted on the dogs with the chair is absolute madness, and un-necessary. No drinking water in the canteen, so many ends up buying cold drinks to quench their thirst, but a water cooler is certainly expected. Lunch is also served which if you aren’t carrying from home is acceptable, but you’ll be bored sooner or later.

Again as the location is a little away from most of the possible hangouts around, people generally don’t camp out a lot that too during college hours is anyway not possible. Listing whatever little is around, Cineplex in Kalol to movies at. R-world close by has now shut operations. And if hanging around in plantation fields is your thing, well then there are plenty around to enjoy.

60 – 70% of the entire crowd hails from Ahmedabad. There are about 20% students from Kalol side, and the remaining from Gandhinagar. There are some who stay in hostels or as Paying Guests (PG) but that too is not very close to the college. The ratio of boys to girls is about 80:20, but all interact and mix well. Ragging is a strict NO.

The College not being very much in favour of festivals, not much happens around here. In three years, only once in August last year, a festival had been organized. It was a cultural festival called “Jhankar”. People participated with enthusiasm. But this year around the students are skeptical if the festival will be organized or not, but students are hopeful.

The attendance norm set by the university is minimum 75% to be eligible to take the semester exams. But students say the college is liberal about it, but that still means you can’t go beyond 50%. Else they might want to get harsh with you. Civil department in this aspect is more particular about it. But bunking lectures during a day is not allowed. Once you’ve entered the college premise, if there is a lecture scheduled for you, you have to attend them. Roaming around in the campus (whatever little there is) is not allowed. Getting out for some also demands a gate-pass, which you get only for a valid reason. If the college realizes that someone has bunked, they are tracked down and brought back to the college. In worse cases, parents are also called, or in some cases, students have even been suspended for 15 days.

Here the faculties students say lack experience, but In spite of that do a good job and manage the lectures well, and not to forget are conducted regularly. You can come here, and be assured about serious study, but you might have to compromise on having a good time in your college life. The attendance system is also computerized, so you bunk or miss lectures, the computer will send out SMS’ to your parents , which technically leaves you only weekends for you, else no time to enjoy life.
