The faculty at the Vivekanand Institute are senior professors, with high qualification and a lot of experience in their respective fields. Faculties in all the departments are good, and dedicated. The level of their dedication could be judged by their interest to teach even if there are just 2 students in the class. All the academic communication with the students happens in English. Many are friendly and understanding, many aren’t. Professors often provide handouts so that students can study at home.

This college boasts about the campus being the 1st Eco-Friendly campus, the infrastructure of VIPS is nothing short of great. 5 acres of land, 2 massive buildings (one is still under construction) and one superb college. The classrooms are all air-conditioned, with modern furniture, and the ultra-modern digital smart boards, that are interactive and touch controlled. But all that even CCTV camera to keep a check on the discipline, so beware. The library is big and spacious and can easily seat around 200 students. All the books are sufficiently available, with books for law, journalism, and IT as well. There is even a provision for online reservation of books. There is provision for some indoor sports as well. Coming to the academic requirements, computer labs are well equipped with the latest hardware and software, the studios for audio video mixing are good, and the moot courts are equally good. Oh not to forget the Print production labs, which are so good. So basically you don’t have to worry about practical exposure of everything that you learn.

The college tries to get more and more companies every year, so that every student gets placed. The college even gets internships for students doing BCA and BJMC. However BCA students aren’t very pleased with their placements, since most of them get jobs in call-centers. Wipro, TCS, IBM and HCL are regular hirers, but all of these are outsourced jobs. More often than not, you’ll find BCA students opting for a Masters degree.
Law and BJMC placements are rather better, though even here most students choose to look for a job themselves. Companies that visit the campus are Airtel, NDTV, Zee, Mid-day for journalism students while the law students also get placed with very experienced lawyers.

The new building located in AU Block of Pitampura is way better than the old campus. Far from the closest metro station Pitampura, on Red Line of the Delhi Metro, it takes another 15 – 20 minutes in a bus or a rickshaw. But being on the Outer Ring Road, getting to the college is no problem as you get a lot of vehicles. 50% students still prefer to take the metro, but the rest get their own vehicles to get here.

The canteen at Vivekanand Institute hasn’t exactly kicked off yet, but the college has very generously dedicated the entire top floor of the glass building to be used as the canteen. As there is some construction still left, a temporary canteen on the ground floor is operational currently. This one is not bad either, and serves a wide variety of dishes at affordable rates and the popular items being sandwich, pizzas, spring rolls and rajma chawal.

Here places to hang out isn’t really an issue, because mostly students take out their cars, and don’t mind going far too. There’s Kamla Nagar Market near the North Campus, there are malls near Rajouri Garden. Ambience Mall also doesn’t feel far when driving with friends. There’s Defence Colony to roam around too. Basically in the words of one student, “jahan man hua nikal lo”.

If we were to mention a USP of VIPS, it would definitely be the crowd. If you ask the boys, why they come here, the answer would be, for the pretty girls doing law. On the other hand, girls would say the same for the handsome guys doing BCA. People here come mainly from the Delhi-NCR region. And the college is pretty safe too. Guys don’t fight either. One thing to be noted is that wearing shoes and full-length jeans/trousers is absolutely compulsory at this college.

The annual college fest called 'Spandan' gets participation from different parts of Delhi, but the major festival here is definitely the overall Indraprastha University fest, 'Anugoonj'. Fashion show is held in the Delhi Haat.

The college is quite lenient in this respect, and more so if you happen to represent it in one way or another (sports, cultural, etc). If your attendance falls low, parents are called all the time of course, but nothing really ever happens. ‘Fake parents’ are extremely common here; so much so that you’d be called stupid if your real folks show up. Overall the college is strict on the outside, but there hasn’t been a case where the college has taken any harsh action.

There’s good crowd here, the faculty is good, but the studies will always depend upon you. And well the college does produce toppers at the university, so you know; you can have fun here and study too.
