Faculty is great for the marketing department. Other departments too have respectable faculty – certainly not bad, but not fantastic either. Visiting faculties that teach some specific subjects and the heads of various departments are awesome.

The campus of YMT College of Management is about the size of four football fields, with two or three buildings dispersed here and there and the remaining part occupied by a large barren playground. The campus is shared by YMT Dental College. The infrastructure of the management college in particular is certain to remind you of your school days – small classrooms with little brown desks and benches (except that they are now occupied by full-grown individuals), tiny staircases and some broken windows. Projectors are provided for presentations but public address systems may not function correctly when you need them the most. Students here say that facilities provided are meagre compared to the fees being charged.

YMT College of Management has consistently attracted companies for placements and most of the MMS Programme students do get placed every placed every year. However, students complain that do not get an option to choose a particular profile they like and have to settle with whatever they get (We’d say if your profile is good, you can most certainly apply off campus. And if it isn’t be thankful to the college for getting you a job!).
Placements are relatively better for marketing students, the same story with every second management college. Average salaries are around 2.5 to 3 lakh per year, the highest being 4 lakh per year.
Jobs are difficult to find for the MCA students though. Only a third of the batch gets employed through campus placements and the rest have to hunt for work on their own. Salaries offered are lower too – almost half of what MMS students get.

Eight to ten-minute walk from Kharghar Railway Station (Harbour Railway) is sufficient to reach YMT College of Management through a shortcut which might be difficult to know initially. The normal and longer route would take about 5 to 7 minutes more. Or if you’re all tired by the time you make it to Kharghar, you can take an auto-rickshaw to ferry you there for a minimum fare. Those travelling by BEST or NMMT buses can get down at the highway and walk to the campus.

Students come from various parts of Mumbai but those from Navi Mumbai are certainly in more numbers. The overall crowd and campus environment appears a little gloomy with more concentration on academic life than on co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.

Attendance is very strict – again bringing back fond memories of school. 75% has to be maintained, and if it’s below that strict action may be taken if you do not pay heed to repeated warnings.

YMT College of Management may certainly have great faculty, nearly 100% placements for MMS students and above average placements for MCA students, yet students feel that a lack of infrastructure and a boring college environment with little overall development do not make it one of the top choices.
