Interview Experience:
Selection process involves Aptitude, GD, Technical Interview & PI.
Aptitude is neither difficult nor very easy, but a small preparation overnight can help a lot. GD seemed to be very important. Being from Non-IT background, I didn't face many programming questions. PI is not at all difficult.
Job Description:
Freshers are referred as GETs/SETs (Graduate/Software Engineer Trainee). It is simply a fresher's post where you are considered still as a trainee( though you might have completed your official training) and allocated mainly to support and maintenance kind of projects which allows to understand and get used to the IT industry.
Experience at Work:
I feel an IT job will not entertain you if you aren't from Computers or IT branch & love the core topics of your respective stream.
Peers are helpful and you get connected with them especially after the training. Working hours are also not hectic. (9 hrs)
L&T is a great place to work at!
Advice to the juniors:
- If from IT: Get your basics clear, do not stick to a single technology.
- If not from IT: Get in only if you want to (or if you do not have any options to get into core). Use your vacations to go through the IT stuff, if possible do some sort of certifications.
- Advice for all: Be ready to get posted to any location, to any technology!
- Excellent communication and presentation skills will help you tackle GDs and PIs easily.
