Electronics Engineering - Course Description & Scope

Description:

If you think being an Electronics Engineer is going to involve designing sophisticated robots for Honda and Toyota, you're slightly mistaken. Core Electronics jobs aren't too easy to get in the first place, but if you get one then it could be pretty interesting. While still in college, the branch involves the detailed study of various components (micro as well as macro) used in electrical instruments.

In the four years, expect to study a few very dull and dry subjects, do a million graphs, and also some complicated numericals. You'll be starting at the absolute grassroot level of electronics, and then moving on to more complex things slowly.

How the Course Pans Out:

Major Topics of Study What will you do
Second Year
  • Basics of components and circuits
  • Digital System Designs
  • Network Analysis and Synthesis
  • Control System
Third Year
  • Basics of components and circuits
  • Digital System Designs
  • Network Analysis and Synthesis
  • Control System
Final Year
  • Linear Circuit Designs
  • Digital Communication
  • Filter Designs
  • VLSI

Electronics Engineering in a Nutshell:

Job Prospects:

Core companies like Philips offer technical job profiles to candidates. Job structure involves synthesizing Integrated Circuits (ICs) maintenance, repair, and development of electronic devices or appliances like televisions, refrigerators, air conditioners, etc. No, it is NOT what electricians do!
