The commerce faculty is said to be very helpful. Most of the teachers have 4-5 years of experience. The visiting faculty is good and quite experienced. Sometimes communication with the faculty might be a problem but it’s manageable. The faculty in the science department is said to average with a majority of junior professors with little or no experience. Communication is mostly in Marathi and non-Maharashtrians might find this a hindrance.

The infrastructure at CK Thakur college of Arts, Science and Commerce is decent with spacious and well ventilated classrooms and air-conditioned labs. The seminar hall where commerce students spend much of their time is clean, well maintained and efficiently equipped. The students are satisfied with the facilities provided by the college.

Few or no campus placements are offered at CK Thakur College of Arts, Commerce & Science. Most of the commerce students opt for a master’s degree while science students seeking a job have to run around to get themselves placed.

Changu Kana Thakur College of Arts, Science & Commerce, fondly known as CKT, is located in Navi Mumbai. The nearest railway station is Khandeshwar which is about 30 minutes on foot. Most students prefer to share a rickshaw from the station which costs Rs. 7/- per seat.

Canteen is clean and supposedly hygienic. Keeping in mind the financial hardships that a college student faces the canteen food has been priced at very affordable rates. The price of masala dosa, a favourite among the students was recently increased from Rs. 12/- to Rs. 15/-. Pineapple juice is a must have at just Rs. 10 !!

There aren’t many places to hangout around here. In the monsoons students frequently make trips to the nearby waterfalls. Canteen is their one and only favourite spot.

Majority of the crowd is very much apathetic to the extra-curricular activities. Even the college does not encourage participation in the various activities. The crowd is more on the studious side. They are very much oriented towards their course and are creative in their own field.

CKT has been active in participating in sports like kabbaddi and kho-kho. The students have participated at the national level too. Students participate in the youth festivals organised by the university. Fresher’s party, Rose day and saree day are only some of the few events where the students enjoy and have fun. An intra-college festival called E-Fest happens in the month of February.

Changu Kana Thakur College of Arts, Science & Commerce (CKT) sticks to the 75% attendance norm. Low attendance may affect your internal marks. Students failing to manage attendance of a petty 30% are detained, and rightly so. The science department is even stricter. There have been instances where the student has bunked for a day and has been marked absent for 8 days. Letters are sent to parents of defaulters to ask them to meet the professors in college.

It’s a good college to be in if don’t mind the attendance issue. Quality of education is above average, but the weak points are placements and little support for extra-curricular activities.
