Dayanand Sagar Business Academy (DSBA) has a fleet of experienced professors who impart education quite satisfactorily. Students here don’t hold much grudges against their teachers.

The college is part of the gargantuan Dayanand Sagar Institutions (DSI) campus which spreads of acres of land and is home to several other sister institutes. As you enter the campus on your bike, you are directed to the parking lot which is humungous with hundreds of bikes parked every day (Parking is charged at Rs. 5/- every day and doesn’t go down well with everyone). Infrastructure on the whole is terrific; buildings, libraries, classrooms, labs, Wi-Fi, e-books, everything. Only one thing that bothers sometimes is roaming around the campus; it’s full of slopes and descents, so while going down would be fun, coming up is equally tiring.

The college supports placements and a few companies do come for placements. The scenario is better for BBM students compared to B.Com. students. Monthly salaries range from 15K to 18K.

Dayanand Sagar Business Academy (DSBA) is in South-Central Bangalore’s Kumaraswamy Layout close to Banashankari. Bus services provided by BMTC are fantastic in the central areas of Bangalore and this college is one amongst many other institutions which benefit by this awesome service. However, few students here are known to make use of BMTC buses as half of them reside in the hostels and the others commute by their own two wheelers.

The DSI campus has two kinds of hostels; the “NRI” hostel which isn’t restricted to only NRIs but is offered to anyone who can afford it. So if you want all the luxuries of a twin-sharing air-conditioned room equipped with a television and some more additional facilities, get ready to shell out nearly double of what those chaps at the “Indian” hostel pay. Yes, that’s what they call it, an almost dilapidated hostel offering four-sharing, non-A/C, non-TV rooms at half the price (around Rs.60,000/- per year).

Altogether 4 or 5 canteens lay spread out around the campus. The NRI canteen is perhaps the biggest, most hygienic appearing and costliest one amongst all. But it serves great food. Besides that, there’s an Indian canteen which mostly serves South-Indian snacks, a Nescafe and a Cuppa stall. Food is generally not an issue nor is the variety of food.

You’ll find few places real close to the college but within 10-15 minute driving distance there’s every food, drinks & movie place you can think of. And with enough relaxation in attendance allowed, hanging out for big spans of time is what you won’t be able to escape while at Dayanand Sagar Business Academy (DSBA)

Perhaps the best part of the entire Dayanand Sagar Institutions (DSI) campus. A very colorful crowd with a healthy mix of girls and boys all blending around perfectly. Loads of North Indians somehow happen to land up here. There’s always an enthusiastic ambience around in the campus and ‘masti’ is at the top of everyone’s mind.

A college festival called Apogee is celebrated every year around January or February. Another separate fest organized by the management department (BBM) is also held around the same time.

Unlike the Engineering College which is quite liberal, attendance at Dayanand Sagar Business Academy (DSBA) is a headache. It’s wise to keep your attendance levels above 75% here since below that a relaxation of 5% is allowed and then fines as high as Rs. 1,000/- per percentage short of attendance per subject are levied. “My friend paid a whopping 30K as fine last semester”, says a student smiling sheepishly.
The DSI group doesn’t believe in unnecessarily burdening the students with disciplinary rules and thus there’s complete freedom with dress codes, few restrictions on mobile usage and little or no problems with girls and guys hanging around together. A good belief, but is sometimes used by students in the wrong way.
