There are excellent faculties teaching here. All have a lot of experience in the industry as well as in teaching. They’re very supportive and listen to new ideas put forth by students and provide proper guidance for implementing them. They also provide a lot of freedom to students.

The infrastructure is good enough and all the things required by an architecture student are there. The atmosphere is very nice especially in the monsoon. There are a lot of sites to observe which is what an architecture student always craves for. The classrooms and studios are pretty decent but there’s no internet facility. The computers also are not up to the mark, so you might want to carry your laptops for CAD classes. There are 2 libraries – one for architecture and one common university library. All the books pertaining to syllabus are there. One thing the students complain about is the pathetic condition of roads inside BU campus.

Department of Architecture of UVCE is located inside the Bangalore University campus at Jnana Bharati. There is good connectivity by BMTC buses till the main gate of University but you’ll have to walk quite a lot to reach the college. College bus is also there at nominal prices and many students make use of it.

There’s no canteen in the college and the university canteen is far. You can get meals at 3 bucks under a scheme by ISKCON called ‘Akshaya Patra’ in the university canteen. Ideally speaking this scheme is only for economically backward people, but anyone can have it. And the food is not bad at all.

‘Courtyard’ & ‘Complex’ are the favourite hangouts inside the campus. ‘Courtyard’ is a place in the college under shade of trees where you can just sit for hours with friends. Whereas ‘Complex’ is the place in the campus where there are a few fast food stalls. Outside the campus there’s a mall called Gopalan Arcade. There’s also a Nandini milk parlour and McDonald’s near the main gate.

The teachers are very considerate about attendance and if you have genuine reasons they won’t give any troubles. It is expected of students to keep 75%, but it’s manageable till 60%. They’ll make you run around, give some extra assignments or call your parents but won’t take any harsh actions. Below 60% there are chances of getting detained.
