Majority of the teachers are experienced and students easily follow what they teach. The lectures are generally conducted in English but teachers are considerate and can explain a few topics in Hindi too if a student requests.

The campus is shared with school. The college building is pretty old and worn out. However the interiors are decent. Classrooms are comfortable and labs are well equipped. Library is spacious and it can accommodate 60 to 70 students, but some books are not available.

GNVS Guru Nanak College of Arts, Science & Commerce is located very close to the GTB Nagar station of the Harbour Line. It’s a 5 minute walk from station at the most and the place is also well connected by road with central regions of Mumbai. BEST buses from all parts of the city ply here as well. So connectivity is excellent. Most of the students come from the nearby areas such as Dadar, Matunga, Sion and Antop Hill.

Canteen is on the 2nd floor and it is only as big as a classroom, so it gets a crowded during lunch time. There is not much variety in food items but whatever is available is tasty. Chinese dishes are popular among students. The prices are also very affordable.

Most of the times, students hangout in and around the campus only. If they prefer to go outside there are a lot of places near Sion circle. Also the famous IMAX is not too far.

There’s a mixed crowd ranging from studious kids to extremely notorious chaps. Fighting is common here and there have been incidents causing shame to college. Students believe in ‘work while work, play while play’ and study hard when the exams are near.

Attendance norms also vary as per the course. For professional courses it is very strict. You have to attend minimum 75% lectures and if you don’t you are made to pay fine. Sometimes you have to pay fine in terms of distributing chocolates to entire class. But if your attendance is very low, your parents will be informed and will be called to the college.
For BSc they’re comparatively lenient about attendance. You can manage to stay safe with about 50%. For BCom they’re pretty cool about it and no stern action will be taken if you can manage to keep 20% - 30% attendance.

Guru Nanak College is a good choice for students with low scores. It is known for good academics and comes close to Khalsa College in this aspect.
