Most of the faculties are senior and experienced in teaching. Although there are a few junior professors, who are obviously less experienced, but they too manage well. The Mechanical and the Computer departments have the better faculties over other departments. Metallurgy departments, the students say has issues with the lectures not being conducted at various times, at worse time, only 1 out of every 3 lectures were conducted.

The entire JNTUH campus looks modern, with the College of Engineering block making no exception. All the departments are separated into blocks, and labs are separate sheds. Although maintenance of the equipments at all the branches is not same, most of them are well maintained. The classrooms are up-to-date. A fairly big 2 storey library block houses a huge collection of books, and journals. A digital library facility is also available at the library. The entire campus is wifi enabled and students with one-time registration can access internet without any restrictions. The campus also has a big cricket ground, which is obviously shared by all the university campus colleges. Indoor games include Table Tennis which is well maintained. The college also has a separate basketball court. The college also has a generator connected to the hostels as well, to use in case of emergency during power cuts.

A lot of companies come to the college, by the reputation of it being the University college. About 80% students get placed at various MNCs’ that come to recruit here. The rest 20% opt for higher studies or look for jobs themselves. But technically, those who need a job will certainly get one, provided they have fared well in their academic performances, obviously. Department wise CSE has the highest placements, with relatively lesser core companies coming in for Mechanical, Metallurgical and EEE branches. Essar steels used to visit the campus, but not anymore. Mechanical also has about 80% core companies coming in with Mahindra & Mahindra being regular, but the highest recruiter is TCS. The average salary students say is about Rs.5 Lakh per annum which is decent for a fresher job. Microsoft also visits the campus and pays fairly higher than other software cos.

Located in the north-west part of the city, Kukatpally is not difficult to reach. In fact in a couple of years, even the Hyderabad metro can drop you right outside the JNTU campus. Well connected in short. If you’re taking the RTC buses; 218, 219, 223, 224, 225, 226 series buses can get you here, from all parts of the city. Frequency of RTC Buses is high as it’s located right on the Bombay highway. Owing to the excellent connectivity, and location, about 80% of the students use public transport, while about 15% use their own vehicles. The rest live in hostels/rooms nearby and can walk to college.

The canteen is again a separate block, and common for the entire campus, and serves decent Chinese fast food. All the stuff you get here is priced moderately, and the food is worth. There is puffs, and juices available too. The canteen space is hygienic and so is the food. Apart from the space inside the canteen, people even head out to the lawns to enjoy their food with friends in the open air. At the canteen; Chicken Noodles is the most popular among the students.

JNTU lies in the city, so there are a lot of places around where you can hangout. For movies there are Arjun, and Vishwanath theatres to catch Telugu movies. Some good restaurants include MRCB and Tabla. Tabla even has a special 10% for JNTU students. Inorbit Mall in Gachibowli is also not far to shop or chill. People also like chilling in the campus or around the canteen too.

JNTUH being a reputed university of the state and to some extent even the country, it attracts people from the entire state, and some even from the north come to study here. There are 4 seats reserved for the NRI also, so you can expect a little diversity in the crowd. At times people from other parts of the country do face issues with the language, and don’t mix with the locals. The people are warm and hospitable nevertheless. When it comes to studies people get sincere as the exams come close, and most score well, and the rest of the time are pretty lively. The ratio of boys and girls overall is 60:40, with slightly better ratio in the CSE Department.

“Spandana” is the annual fest of JNTU-CEH, which is held in the month of April or May. Events include Dance, skits, singing, short films and various other performances. Every department also conducts their own technical festivals all round the year. The college also conducts an annual sports meet which is quite a popular event. At the hostels, students even celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi.

A minimum of 75% attendance is expected as per the university norms, failing to keep 75% invites problems in the form of a fine or detained in worse cases. In case the attendance lies between 65%-75% the students has to pay a condonation fee of Rs.300. Below 65% pleading and continuous persuasion may help you to avoid a year drop. For an absolutely low attendance of 20-30% parents are called, and only for very genuine reasons, is the student considered to be promoted, else there have been cases of students being detained for very poor attendance.

Being a constituent college of JNTUH, it’s considered to be the second best college for Engineering in Hyderabad, with Osmania University at the first preference, and both continuously keep switching places. Studies are also fair enough, with most students passing with decent marks. Placements scenario here is very positive and way better than other city colleges.
