The senior faculties are highly experienced and knowledgeable. Unfortunately there are more juniors than seniors. Nevertheless they too are dedicated and conduct lectures nicely. Generally the lectures are conducted in English but Gujarati is also used often. Pharmaceutics & Chemistry departments are considered among better ones whereas Pharmacognosy teachers are not popular with students.

L. M. College of Pharmacy is located in AES’ (Ahmedabad Education Society) campus. There are 2 other colleges namely LD Arts College & Mg Science Institute sharing the campus. Also there is LD college museum, an art gallery called ‘amdavad ni gufa’ which was built by MF Husain and Zen café inside the same campus. Campus is pretty big but looking at so much empty space you feel that it could have been utilized in a better way. College infrastructure is just about average. Classes are spacious but they can get really hot in summers as fans work only occasionally. Washrooms are dirty most of the times. Labs are well-equipped but equipment and chemicals are old, so results of the experiments are no accurate. Also gas and water are not available sometimes. Procuring new chemical is done as per government pace and protocols. Library is huge and contains volumes of books, journals and pharmacopoeia. There is no WiFi but internet connectivity is available on a single computer in the library. There are playgrounds for cricket, hockey, football and basketball but they’re not properly maintained and students are not allowed to play there anyways.

Before about a decade, LM used to attract really great recruiters. But since many years now very few or no companies come here for placements. The rumours have it that current final batch will see some improvement. Few companies are lined up for campus interviews offering salary of about 15,000 a month.

L. M. College of Pharmacy is located right across Gujarat University campus in Navrangpura which is centrally located and is easily accessible by city buses from all parts of the city. Also BRTS bus stops of University and Andhjan Mandal are just about 1.5 km away, making connectivity even better and commuting quicker. Many students can also be seen travelling by their own two wheelers.

There are not separate hostels for LM College of Pharmacy but students can stay in University hostels which are common to all the courses. ‘J’ block of university hostels is where pharmacy people get accommodated. There are twin sharing rooms with common washrooms, 2 per floor. They aren’t clean most of the times and there are also other issues like missing tube-lights/bulbs in a few rooms. There are 5 to 6 different messes but food is not good in any of them. Students generally fix-up a private tiffin service which costs about 9 grand a year.

While majority of the folks are from Ahmedabad itself, there are quite a many from far-out corners of the state too. The crowd is sincere and highly inclined towards academics. Their sincerity gets further catalysed by college policies such as hanging around in the campus is not allowed.

There are no cultural festivals or other events. College doesn’t support any kind of extra-curricular activities arranged by students. It rather discourages students to not get involved in any sorts of non-academic phenomena.

75% attendance is compulsory. And they are very strict about it. If you don’t attend theory classes, you won’t even be allowed to enter labs. However actions are taken only if the attendance falls too low, say below 50% or so. Most common action is to call parents or send a letter home. Any extreme action is not heard of being taken, but it’s always better to be safe than sorry. Students generally attend classes regularly and don’t consider attendance as a big issue.
