The general opinion of the students at MIP, is that the faculty is just okay, with a few teachers being exceptional. Most of them are just good, but a few are really brilliant, and that’s what keeps the students ticking. Like the 30% good professors make learning fun, and interesting. Most of the faculty are junior, and the senior faculty members are highly experienced. The professors are more comfortable in communicating in Marathi, and so are the students, so that’s not an issue. But there are times, when non-Marathi speaking students do face a problem.

Being MIT’s pharmacy college, it lives up-to the reputation and the infrastructure is good. Classrooms are big and spacious. The laboratories are well stocked, and well equipped, and also maintained in terms of breakages, and cleanliness. The library is good, and you can find the standard textbooks, and a wide variety of reference books, on various topics. Although at times, during the exams, there might be a shortage of books, but students say that it’s rare, and happens once in a blue moon. Just a thing that lacks is a nice canteen, and students now feel the need of an upgrade.

Students personally prefer going for higher studies, in pharmacy itself take up a management course. Most of the students do not take up jobs right after pharmacy, in search of better opportunities. But for those who want to take up jobs, there are 4-5 core pharmacy companies that come over, and would recruit students as per their requirements.

Though not in the heart of the city, MIT College of Management, Kothrud has very very good accessibility. There are special buses for MIT from Katraj, as well as a few other places. So getting to the college is not very hard, even if you don’t have your own vehicle. But again, in over 50% of the students have their own bikes.

The cold coffee at the nearby Durga café is famous throughout Pune, and for good reason. Other hangouts are FC road, JM road, City Pride mall, and the ‘tapris’ around MIT.

The crowd is predominantly rural, which is not the bad part. The bad part is they don’t mix with each other well. So the general fun of being at college is faded. The boy-to-girl ratio is about 50:50, which is quite ideal.

Students have to maintain 75% attendance for every 2 months, and in every two months period a defaulters’ list is issued, and you better not be in that list, because then, you are straightaway not allowed to appear for the exams.

Certainly not among the top colleges for pharmacy in Pune, MIT does has its reputation, but the pharmacy college, is just like other pharmacy colleges. Come here just for a graduate degree in pharmacy. It’s naïve to expect anything more from this college.
