Patel College of Science and Technology does not have good permanent faculty. Teachers keep getting replaced every month which does not suit the students well. Also, most of the teachers are inexperienced and fresh graduates pursuing their post graduation. Teachers change shifts to teach at the other two colleges i.e. all three colleges in the campus share the same faculty. Mechanical faculty in Patel College of Science and Technology is said to be good, better than the other two colleges in campus and the other branches available.

Patel College of Science and Technology has a medium sized campus which is not very aesthetic, most of it looking barren with no greenery at all. The entrance and interiors even though clean - look old, worn out and dirty. Students are of the opinion that Patel College of Science and Technology has poor infrastructure. The college was established in 2002 and since then not much has been done to upgrade the college infrastructure. WiFi facility is available but isn’t up to the mark- works sometimes and sometimes not. Classrooms are fine with adequate seating and ventilation but an atmosphere of learning strictly absent. Library facilities are available for the students but not used well. Laboratories are poor in Patel College of Science and Technology and also the other 2 colleges in the campus. All the three colleges share common workstations which again are redundant. Also, the instructors lack confidence and experience. A 1500 people capacity common auditorium is also present in campus.

Placements in Patel College of Science and Technology are that of a tier 2 college with not many students getting placed. 2.5 to 3 Lakh per Annum are the highest salaries; core companies for Mechanical and Civil are few and it is always an advantage for the CS and IT students during placements as most companies are of that domain. All the three colleges in the campus go through a common placement program.

Patel College of Science and Technology is one of the three Engineering colleges in the Patel group of Institutions campus. The campus is located further ahead into the RatiBud road around 20 KM away from the main city of Bhopal. All the three colleges of the campus have common busses which ply throughout the city. Earlier the number of busses was very few resulting in the busses picking students up only from certain stops. This was cumbersome for students staying in the interiors of the city as they had to reach common stops and also didn’t get a adequate space in the bus. Off late though, the college has increased the number of busses which has made things easier for the students. The number of students getting their own two wheelers has also decreased with the new rolling stock.

Hostel facilities for the boys are available in campus on a 3 per room sharing basis. Even though the mess food isn’t liked by the students, they do not have an option for food around the college. The girls’ hostel is in the New Market of Bhopal. A PNB ATM is present in campus.

The canteen is common for all the three colleges in the campus. The canteen also serves food to the hostellers and there is no separate mess. Chips, cold drinks and other packed food is sold at rates higher than the MRP and nothing special is available in the canteen, making it a not so relished place in the college campus.

There are no hangouts nearby and most of the area is rural. The nearest mall is the DB Mall or the Aashima Mall which too, are far flung from the secluded campus. Students spend their time within campus before leaving for their hostels outside campus (girls) or in the campus (boys).

Crowd is not a studious one with most of the boys bunking class regularly and many of them defaulting attendance. Only one quarter students are studious and do well while the rest manage their grades. The girl to boy ratio is very poor with absolutely no girls in the Mechanical and Civil branches and a few girls in the other branches. Only the IT branch has substantial number of girls. Most students are from Bihar and a few, around 20% from Madhya Pradesh itself.

Cultural programmes are held each year but the college does not have a specific college festival. Most of the festivals and events are celebrated in campus but apart from that, the students do not have anything great happening. A few sports events are organized sometimes; students participate in other college festivals though.

Attendance is strict in Patel College of Science and Technology with defaulters getting extra assignments to complete, fine being imposed and also marks are deducted from the practical examinations. There have been several protests against the college administration for asking for unwarranted fines from the students on defaulting attendance.

Even though Patel College of Science and Technology has repute, it is below par when it comes to reality. The college has degraded over time where students are unhappy with the administration and are just killing time in the college, there is no real learning. Unless options are less, Patel College of Science and Technology should not be kept in top preference.
