Even though it is one of the most hyped colleges in the suburbs, surprisingly the teaching staff at Dalmia College is quite good. The professors have a decent knowledge about the subject although communication is sometimes in Hindi. The faculty for accounts and finance is quite good and students enjoy their lectures.

Dalmia College building looks like one of the ancient colleges as it’s always dark during anytime of the day. The walls of the classrooms and passages are dirty, most of the times. There are no AC classrooms and the library is also pretty much okay. The college lacks the facility for Internet. On a whole, the college is rated way below average for it’s infrastructure.

One of the most hyped colleges amongst Hindus especially Marwaris, Dalmia College is located in Sunder Nagar in Malad West which is equidistant (about 10 minutes) from Malad Railway Station and the famous Inorbit Mall. Most of the students travel by their respective two wheelers as there is no immediate bus stop to the college.

The food in the canteen is just about edible and area wise it is less spacious although the prices are pretty low. Since the hangouts nearby the college are quite up to the mark, the canteen is most of the times neglected.

Since the college is located in Sunder Nagar, which is predominately surrounded by a lot of Gujarati and Marwari communities, one can expect amazing places to eat. Right at the corner of the lane is Jumbo King Vada Pav followed by a dosa parlour and a sandwich guy. There is a fast food corner by the name Shanti Restaurant at the end of the lane.
Apart from these local hangouts, the next destination where you find Dalmia-ites is Inorbit and Infiniti mall. Sometimes, you see them on the back road or at 5D restaurant, which is quite famous as Mindspace.

In one word, MARWARI! Since, the college has a Rajasthani (Marwari) quota, atleast 70% of them belong to the same. Most of the students are from the orthodox background and guys are cheap in their habits. You’re expected to meet a few rowdy students communicating in Marwari (obviously with some added broken English).

The attendance in Dalmia College is not very strict. Though students are forced to maintain 75%, most of them are found in the early 40’s, still no action is taken. The college is pretty lenient and students take maximum advantage of the same.

One of the most famous colleges for traditional Marwari families and is a huge hit in the western suburbs. Students, who are sure of joining their dad’s business, mostly join this college. Nevertheless, the college has produced a few Chartered Accountants as well. Dalmia is definitely one of the hot favourites from Andheri to Borivali for a commerce chap whose marks are just about average.
