All the faculties at Rajalakshmi Engg College are experienced. Students like their teaching. Mechanical is considered the best department of this college. Bio-med, Bio-tech, ECE & nano-tech are also good.

Campus of Rajalakshmi Engineering College (REC) is huge. It has large playground and spacious buildings. Infrastructure is top-notch. Especially mechanical department has very well-equipped labs.

At Rajalakshmi Engineering College if you clear all subjects they will make sure that you get placed. Although there are more number of mass recruiting IT firms like TCS, HCL, Wipro & LnT Infotech coming here than core companies, mechanical has better placements in companies like Ashok Leyland and LnT.

Rajalakshmi Engineering College (REC) is located on National Highway 4 around 32 km from Chennai. There are many MTC buses plying here but that does not matter as it is mandatory to travel by college bus.

Crowd at REC is very friendly. Majority students here are from Chennai. They are good at studies but fortunately not the nerdy kind.

Attendance is strict at REC. Formals are compulsory without which they give you a slip to pay fine. However you can often manage without paying it. Unlike most colleges here you have freedom to roam freely in the campus but that is only if you are wearing id card. Girls and boys can sit together and interact freely. Disciplinary rules are more strictly obeyed for first year. Overall the college is lenient compared to most other colleges in Chennai.
