The college is well known for its faculty. The faculty here are very qualified but again sometimes there is language problem. The teacher generally communicate in English during lectures but many times they converse in Marathi too. All the faculty is not very friendly but majority teachers are co-operative. Junior college professors are not very good, but again students are hardly there to notice that.

The college building was built in 1937, but it is one of the finest example of keeping the infrastructure up to the mark but not messing with the vintage architecture. The labs of the college are quite decent. They aren't air-conditioned but no complains. Classrooms are huge and spacious. The reading room here would make you want to visit it, maybe not to study but just to relax (although that is not allowed). The college doesn't have any grounds or huge campus but the 'katta' outside can be unofficially considered to be a part of the extended campus. There is a quadrangle in the college where students do hang out but it has been equipped with CCTV cameras.

Ruia is located near Matunga station with many other educational institutes nearby. Just adjacent to it is the Podar college. It overlooks the grounds of Matunga Gymkhana. The college is truly centrally located. Its proximity to Dadar and Matunga station makes it accessible to suburbs located on both the central and western railways. The place is well connected by road too, buses ply here from almost all parts of the city.

The canteen at Ruia is not very known about. Even students don't know if the canteen is there or is it shut. Students prefer the eateries outside.

There are infinite options for Ruia-ites to hangout. The 'katta' has been the most famous and preferred place. You may not call it a hangout as it is the place which Ruia-ites consider it as a part of their college. There are several options from DP's, Manis, freshlime guy, Snow point, Sherry's, Cafe Gulshan and many more other options. May of the them do hangout at various eateries at King's Circle. There is also a sandwich guy just opposite Ruia.

The crowd here is a mixture of people from all socio-economic background. Most of the students coming here are academically inclined. The arts crowd is into dramatics and dance, but then again you wouldn't find snobs here. The crowd is dominated by the Maharashtrians and many from the central suburbs. The crowd is decent and you will always manage to find some people you can get along with. The college students do actively participate in other college fest but that is again limited to a few people.

"Utsav" is the annual intra-college festival of Ruia College held in December. It is not a very grand festival but there's a good amount of participation from enthusiastic students. Apart from there are these standard days like "Rose day", "Traditional day" etc & sports events are also there. These days and sports are also received with great amount of enthusiasm from students.

There are no issues with junior college attendance. Sometimes your parents maybe called but that is very rare and it is purely because of your bad luck. Ruia has never had problems regarding attendance. The students here have been doing well academically and that is what the college cares about.

A good college if you want a good tag, The faculty is also good, but then at times the crowd is a put-off, but again it is the most sought after junior college. Also there are talks that the college will be autonomous.
