Talking straight about the important things; lectures are conducted regularly and it’s rare when lectures are cancelled because the teachers do not wish to take them. About half of the professors are senior and highly experienced, while the rest are relatively fresher. But junior professors are allotted to teach only the first year students, so the core subjects in the later years are taken by the more experienced professors. Most of the faculty is good and the interaction with students is healthy, but a few are disliked by students for their conduct is not apt. Most still are good teachers and very approachable and dedicated towards their jobs.

The building is a 3 storey white structure and has a very typical feel, with ground in the centre and colleges building in the shape of a U. There are about 6-7 separate blocks for various departments and 8 gates to the building. Classrooms in the MBA section are air-conditioned while the under-grad students do not have the same privilege. The computer labs are updated, air conditioned, and students can even access internet here. Wi-Fi is also provided for those who want to use the internet on their own laptops or phones. The library is common to all students and loaded with books that are needed by students of all the departments. Students never have to complain about unavailability of books. The college hostel is not located in the college campus;

The placements for the under-grad students have not been really significant, thus many prefer doing a Masters in Computer Applications, or M.Sc.IT which improves their knowledge, and prospects for a better job. With regards to post-grad management students and MCA students, there have been local companies coming in and recruiting students, but nothing really ground-breaking on this front. Also some take up teaching at the college as assistant professors, and students find them above average when it comes to teaching.
The college (rather the KSV group) also organizes for job-fairs where about 30-40% students manage to get decent jobs with a minimum pay of about Rs.8,000 a month or more. B.Com students can look for part time jobs, while pursuing their C.A./C.S. or other professional courses. Career oriented guidelines are offered to students at the job fair.

Well, those who live in Gandhinagar find it easy to reach most of the colleges that are in the various sectors. The college is located in Sector 13, near KH 6 circle with other KSV colleges in the campus and across the road too. VTCOS buses make travelling inside Gandhinagar convenient. For those who travel from Ahmedabad it may be a bit of a hassle. Travelling by GSRTC buses, time and money wise are a better option. Sharing rickshaws are available from RTO and Kalupur areas. ST buses are frequent from Gandhinagar, but getting to other parts of Ahmedabad from the Northern exit would take time. Taking a BRTS from RTO would also be convenient.

The canteen is spacious, and generously big enough to accommodate everyone, with shining steel tables and very comfortable yet efficient seating. The food is tasty, and hygienic while being moderately priced. Tea and samosa is a popular snack, meals are also available and are decent.

Well there is nothing much around, but getting to places in Sectors of Gandhinagar is not the any difficult. There’s Cinemax theatre in Ch-3 Sector 11, there is ‘chowpatty’ the road side eateries at the Gh-5 Circle and on the road that leads into the circle. Akshardham Temple in Sector 20 is a popular hangout destination to spend time with friends. For the more outgoing souls, Ahmedabad is not too far either, so a 20Km ride, and you can find a myriad of options to explore.

The crowd here is from varied socio-economic backgrounds, and you may find people who are polished but on the other hand some are rowdy and not very interested in the academic life the college offers. These not-so-sociable elements also get involved in fights mostly outside the college, but mostly it’s no nuisance for others so many just ignore it. About 50% of the crowd resides in Gadhinagar itself, while the rest come from Ahmedabad, Kalol and Himatnagar areas. The ratio of boys to girls is 50:50. Guys and girls mix well, but most people choose to stay in their own groups.

To welcome every new batch every year, the college organizes a fresher’s party which the students do enjoy. BBA department organizes a festival called ‘Aina’ and is strictly for BBA department students only. On the other hand B.Com department organizes ‘Yahoo’ which is a festival open to students of all the departments, and people participate with more zeal and fervor.

With respect to attendance the college is very particular and expects students to maintain at least 80% attendance, falling short even by 5-10% also is not acceptable, and thus no exams. Discipline is what the college wants to be followed, but in cases where a student has low attendance for genuine reasons, they are considered. During the day, once in the campus, you have to attend all the lectures, and if seen in the lobby or the campus, you would be sent back by someone or the other. Lunch time is the only time where students can roam around freely. In fact many times, even getting outside the department at odd-times is tough. Bunking is absolutely impossible.

At S.K.Patel Institute of Management and Computer Studies there are various disciplines of study offered, and you can clearly figure that the students are dedicated and sincere, but frankly your aspirations of enjoying college life might take a toll here. Also if you get picked by your faculty (which is highly probable) things might get difficult for you. So remember to be careful. KSV as an organization has a good reputation in Gandhinagar, and being a privately run University, about 60-70% students residing in Gandhinagar consider it over GU/GTU or other private universities (For those students who put studies before other things)
