Faculty in UIT-Barkatullah is a mix. HODs are really good while there are also plenty of new and inexperienced teachers. There have been instances of the number of teachers falling short. Again, the civil branch suffers the most when it comes the faculty while the mechanical branch has more permanent and established teachers.

UIT- Barkatullah University has the largest and most beautiful campus in the entire city of Bhopal, so much so, that you can actually get lost inside the campus! The entire campus is full of greenery, most of it looks like a forest with the departmental buildings placed in the periphery. Apart from engineering, the campus includes blocks for other departments, one huge playground for outdoors sports and a botanical plantation - The campus is really well maintained. One thing that UIT-Barkatullah University really falls short on is the in-campus infrastructure. The laboratories are below average, some functional while some partially functional. The civil engineering laboratory needs immediate revamp while CS, IT are relatively better. Students say they do not expect much out of a government college with respect to these facilities. The engineering department occupies 3 buildings while another one is under construction, the college library is great with spacious interiors and a large pool of books from various streams and departments.

Placements in UIT-Barkatullah University are moderate every year. There no exceptional placements, but there is consistency in placements. Companies like TCS, Wipro and Infosys are major recruiters. CS and IT students are first picks, while civil and mechanical students do not find core companies coming. Students do not expect great placement knowing that the college is a government one. Around 30% students get placed in campus while others prepare for MBA entrances, PSU exams or try off-campus.

The college is just 3 KM away from the Habibganj Railway Station and is situated on the main road. Hostel facilities are available for the students within the huge campus, while a few students live outside campus and manage their own commute. The college does not provide bus services.

There are 3 boys’ hostels and 2 girl’s hostels within the campus-shared by all departments. As the mess is handled by the students, the food is never really bad.

The university common canteen is average. There is variety but not as good as the good private colleges of Bhopal that are of the level of UIT.

If at all students leave the huge campus, they hang out in places like C21 mall and Aashima Mall. Apart from these, students hang out within the campus- it is really that huge and beautiful!

Crowd in UIT-Barkatullah is relatively nerdy as compared to other colleges in Bhopal. Students stay within the huge campus and hence do not socialize with outsiders much. Also, being a government college, there isn’t much recreation and students eventually concentrate a lot of time on studies. Expect many intelligent students studying in UIT- Barkatullah University. Many of the students are seen preparing for entrances to PSUs. Girl to Boy ratio is 1:3, which is way healthier than the other colleges of Bhopal.

UIT- Barkatullah University organizes its annual tech fest called “Tekniska” usually in the month of February. Technical, cultural and sporting events are open to colleges all over India. Major participants are from Bhopal itself and the festival is never extraordinary with moderate attendance and local participation.

75% attendance is mandatory. Some branches allow students without any problem to maintain attendance of around 60% while some branches are really strict about attendance. Moreover, having a good rapport with the respective teachers is important to avoid problems related to attendance. In rare cases of having really poor attendance, students are detained from the college. In case of attendance ranging from 40-50% students are barred from writing unit tests. Extra assignments are given for completion, practical marks are decreased. No fine is collected for low attendance.

UIT-Barkatullah is a good college when it comes to overall crowd and study. Intelligent students and experienced faculty make for its reputation as a good college in Bhopal. Though redundant in some practices, the university and college maintains its ground in the top 5 colleges of Bhopal for engineering. It might be less fancy but it carries a legacy of being one of the best government universities in the state and country.
