You'll come across 5 or 6 excellent teachers in every department who, apart from teaching well, ensure that things keep running smoothly even on occasional spurts of student unrest due to some other horrible professors. Additionally, support and encouragement for sports and numerous other activities is extraordinary. The recently started automobile department is said to be lagging behind other departments but is expected to catch up soon.

The campus is extensive and longish rather than squarish. The journey from the the majestic entrance to the engineering college is a long but pleasant 5 minute walk with a glimpse of top notch tennis courts, football ground, volleyball courts, sports complex, Student Activity Centre and the canteen on the way. Academic facilities like air-conditioned labs, projector-equipped classrooms, well-stocked library and Wi-Fi in certain areas make the infrastructure flawless. VNR Vignana Jyothi Institute of Engineering & Technology (VJIET) collects student feedback every three months and further improvements are effected based on the complaints.

VNR Vignana Jyothi Institute of Engineering & Technology (VJIET) is a front-runner amongst placements too. It records over 90% placements with about half the students being employed by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) alone. Other companies include Mahindra Satyam, Deloitte, Nagarjuna Constructions, SEW Infrastructure, Medha Servo Drives, Robert Bosch etc. Even though CSE and ECE departments witness outstanding placements, students from core departments get several opportunities to work at companies offering jobs related to their fields. So unlike many other engineering colleges in Hyderabad, they can stick their field of interest and learning rather than being forced into the IT sector. Salaries offered range between Rs. 2 lakh per year to Rs. 4.5 lakh per year.

Despite being so remotely located (almost 25kms from Koti and 7kms from Kukatpally), reaching VNR Vignana Jyothi Institute of Engineering & Technology (VJIET) doesn't seem to be a Herculean task. About 5-6 different RTC buses pass by the college premises while another 50-odd drop you at Kukatpally from where you can take share-autos for 15 bucks. Moreover, if you're ready to spend more (Rs. 12,000 to Rs. 15,000 per year), a few RTC buses offer exclusive services and function almost like College Buses.

Hostels are like duplex villas, some 3kms from the campus, comfortably accommodating 10 guys or girls in each block. The surrounding area certainly arises feelings of holidaying at some resort and with delicious food that tastes just like home, you'll have no reason to complain. The charges may sound a little exorbitant at Rs. 55,000 annually, but it's worth every penny!

Besides being small, the VJIET canteen doesn't give an opportunity to grumble about. It serves decent food quality at affordable prices. Chaat, especially pani puri and bhel puri, are a must try. A couple of kiosks outside the canteen offer slightly different varieties if you get bored with the monotonous canteen food.

VNR Vignana Jyothi Institute of Engineering & Technology (VJIET) doesn't permit students to leave the campus during college hours. Some claim to have jumped the walls; "But what's the point?! There's nothing here for miles..." tells a student who seemed to have tried it.

The crowd is so energetic, even the most unenthusiastic get charged up and develop equal interest in academics and extracurricular activities. VNR Vignana Jyothi Institute of Engineering & Technology (VJIET) happens to be one of the few engineering colleges in Hyderabad where students actually utilize the myriad of facilities they've been blessed with. You can be assured of having a great time here with like-minded buddies; be it learning, playing, participating or even staring at some pretty faces occasionally.

VNR Vignana Jyothi Institute of Engineering & Technology (VJIET) organizes two mega-events, supposedly the biggest amongst engineering colleges in Hyderabad. 'Convergence', celebrated in mid-October every year, has technical events and workshops while 'Sintillashunz' is their cultural festival celebrated in February. Both festivals are undoubtedly the most awaited events of the year, not just for VJIET students, but even for participants from other colleges in Hyderabad. Besides the two college-fests, there's a sports festival and a few cultural days.

VNR Vignana Jyothi Institute of Engineering & Technology (VJIET) was known for its student-friendly and lenient nature till recently. Things are changing and although there's still some flexibility left, it's getting stricter every year. At present, everyone is supposed to have over 75% attendance which they officially relax up to 65% if students produce necessary medical documents. And unless you've been really bad to your teachers, expect to scrape through even with attending just half the lectures. Below that, parents may be summoned and if they're unable to give satisfactory answers, you may lose out a year.

Except the slightly unsatisfying faculty members, VNR Vignana Jyothi Institute of Engineering & Technology (VJIET) scores on every other aspect. It rightfully deserves to be amongst the top ten engineering colleges in Hyderabad.
