Admission Procedure for Colleges under JNTU & Osmania University

First & foremost, you need to take EAMCET. You also need to obtain 45% in 12th std. (for open category students) & 40% for others. Registration for EAMCET has to be done online at www.apeamcet.org

On the basis of EAMCET socre, a merit list will be prepared by counseling authorities. This list will be used for allotment of seats.

All the seats are divided in 2 categories: Category A (70% seats) reserved for Andhra Pradesh students & Category B (30% seats) open for Andhra as well as out state students. Category A seats shall be filled on EAMCET score via centralized counseling.

There was web-based counseling prior to 2012. But in 2012 due to various reasons admissions were NOT web-based but via counseling conducted at various counseling centers across the state. Both these procedures are explained in brief here.

Counseling for the year 2012:

  1. You will be called to your assigned counseling venue on a particular date & time slot which will be notified to you in advance. These slots are prepared in order of merit number. Make sure that you carry all your original documents and photocopies for counseling.
  2. At the counseling center, you'll be moving through various stages for verification of documents, counseling & payment of fees. At all the times during this process, information about current student being counseled and vacant seats in all colleges will be displayed on huge screens.
  3. During first stage your documents will be scrutinized and if they're found in order, you'll be allowed to move on to actual counseling counter.
  4. At the counseling counter, you'll be shown all the possible options of college & course as per your merit number. You need to fill in a form giving 5 options. All the information pertaining to these options such as faculty, infrastructure, hostel facility & vacant seats will be shown to you. Based on this information you need to make a final choice. You will then be alloted that particular course in the college of your choice.
  5. Then you'll have to move to bank counters to make payment of fees. After which your admission will be confirmed.

Web-based Counseling for the year 2011 & prior:

Stage-1: Verification of Documents
You need to be present at Help Line Centers (HLC) with all the necessary documents on the dates specified. There your documents will be scrutinized & if they're found in order you'll be allowed to participate in web-based counseling. You'll also be given Manual Option Form & Specimen Option Form

Stage-2: Exercising Options (Online)
Register yourself online at www.apeamcet.nic.in. Make sure that before exercising options online, you have prepared your lists on manual/specimen option form. Based on either of these, you can fill in your options from your home or cyber cafe. You can also go to a Help Line Center & ask the staff there to fill it for you using Manual Option Form that you had prepared at home. There is no limit on number of choices that you can submit.

Stage-3: Allotment of Seats
The allotment will be made on the basis of merit, category & the order of options. Final allotment will be shown on website on specified date. You need to download your allotment order & payment challan for payment of fees.

Stage-4: Payment of Fees & Reporting to College
Proceed to nearest branch of Andhra Bank or Indian Bank with allotment order and payment challan. Make payment & collect the receipt. Report to your alloted college within dates mentioned to confirm the admission.

After the counseling is over, if any seats remain vacant, they're handed over to respective institutions.
