Graduate Engineering Trainee at Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL)

Job Description:

First 6 months - Training program: includes initial class room training & plant visits followed by 1 week stay in each plant for 3 months which is then followed by 2 months training for your branch specific training. After 6 months your posting depends on your branch and luck. People from Chemical engineering are generally posted in Mumbai refinery, in 8 hours shifts as shift in-charge. Shift in-charge is responsible for the shift, however major problems are handled by Charge-hand(In-charge of all operators and Panel-man) ,Panel-man and operators. People from Mechanical may or may not have shifts, they are even posted in MMBPL pipeline anywhere from Mumbai to Delhi. Instrumentation, Civil and Electrical can enjoy routine PSU job.
A good learning opportunity in training and initial phase for all disciplines. However, shift work is monotonous, and it is not so easy to come out of shifts. However, experience for initial 2-3 years is enough to get shifted to any other company you desire in this field.
Package is lucrative but NOTE it is only CTC. However you get more than required facilities to reach upto that mark . In hand amount may vary depending on one's perks and facilities s/he receives from the company. PSU generally takes good care of our budgetary requirements.

Experience at Work:

Apart from shift work, peers and working environment is good. Job is much relaxed as compared to other finance banks or private companies. Even the learning experience is valuable. Rest is mentioned in job profile.

 

Advice to the juniors:

Working in PSU is always a good. The best thing about a job here is that you get a very good placement if you do plan to shift from your current job.
