All the faculties on board are extremely qualified doctors, and specialized in their own fields. But do they make for good teachers? Yes, most of them do. Few teachers are pretty outspoken when it comes to discussions, apart from the set syllabus. While some have to be made to speak. But all of them are very approachable even outside the lecture hall. As a part of the college policy, the professors have to constantly pursue research while they teach at the college. About experience, about half of the faculty has a decent experience under their belt, and what they talk about, share, and the way they relate concepts to real examples is what students appreciate generously.

Developed only recently in 2009, the college is relatively new, and being Ahmedabad University is also as new, so the infrastructure looks pretty good. Although AMSOM doesn’t have a huge campus at it’s dispense to develop, but it isn’t any small either. The white buildings look modern and the campus has a minimal kind of a style. The classes are built like a theatre and are centrally air-conditioned. Needless to say as internet access is a must for the projects and research, the entire campus is Wi-Fi enabled, but with a password protection, but obviously the usage is unrestricted. The library is big and spacious and houses a huge volume of books, journals and magazines, mainly pertaining to management fields, and some beyond syllabus too. The college uses a system called SOUL for automatic library maintenance. Students can also access Dr.Vikram Sarabhai library at IIM-A, and other libraries of the sister colleges under AES (like HLCC).
Sports facilities at the college are also decent, and students are satisfied.

With respect to the summers the scenario is quite similar as the placements. The college has good contacts in the industry and students get internships (paid/unpaid) from the college itself. Over 20 companies come for internships, which include Adani Group, Dexter Consultancy, Credila, HDFC, Godrej, HDFC, Business Standard and many more. Again more than 80% students are absolutely sincere about the prospects of working at the company, while some do take up internships which may allow a little ease.

Located at the intersection of the 132 Feet Ring Road and Dr.Vikram Sarabhai Road is AES’s Amrut Mody School of Management and the flags and the vertical banners (of Ahmedabad University) make the presence felt very obviously without much searching. The college is easily accessible by BRTS and AMTC buses that ply on the 132 Feet Ring Road, or even the University Area buses ply. About 30% students are locals, while 70% students are from different places of Gujarat who stay at the college hostels. But anyway travelling to the college should not be an issue from any part of the city.

The campus doesn’t really offer much space for students to relax, but of course once you head out, there are over a million places you can eat, sit or chill. Heading towards the University area is probably the wisest thing to do when in search for some tasty food. Apart from these stalls there are many restaurants, malls, cinemas and gaming zones in the near vicinity.

Admission to AMSOM is based on the lines of IIM, and students have to take the CAT to be eligible for admission, and this sets a standard of students that get through the PI and other rounds. People from various cultures thus are together and mix well. Students also from different graduations come here to pursue their MBA, while most are from a BBA background, many are Commerce graduates too. People are lively, and most of the interaction of the students begins with classroom projects.

Campus life does get stressful with assignments and presentation to submit, but students say that doing it regularly is the key, as the work is given thoughtfully by the faculties. And students are still left with time to do stuff, hangout with friends, and enjoy their own lives.
‘Spandan’ is the annual cultural festival of AMSOM, which students are excited about and participate with great zeal. ‘Garba’ is organized during one of the Navratri nights. The college hosts a sports week, and students may not be excellent sportsmen, but participate to enjoy the event.

The main advantage according to students is that the college is affiliated to Ahmedabad University, which promises them autonomy in a way they can change the syllabus depending on what’s new and stay updated, rather than old and obsolete syllabuses of other state universities. The infrastructure is good, and the so is the teaching. ROI must be considered too, which is not a strong factor here, but learning will never affected. Work hard, meet equally sincere people, and the college shall take care of the rest. Of course with the IIM-A across the road, which it cannot be compared with, AMSOM is a good option if you make it here.

National conference is held every two months that involve discussions on topics around management, which are attended by top-level management of companies and most students find it interesting. The projects the students work upon during the semester are also put to compete with others so as to encourage them to work better, and harder. Industrial Visits to Divya Bhaskar, and Arvind Mills have been a good learning experience. Employees of companies in GIFT city visit the campus to give seminars about their working and their industry. The new dean has brought with him, new policies, and the course has been revised in such a way that students study what interests them only.
