Faculty at DES Law College is average, not up to the standards of FC. A few senior professors are really good and have a lot of hands on experience in the field of their specialization. The director of the college, who teaches Indian Penal Code, is highly respected by students for his knowledge and style of teaching. Leaving apart this handful of teachers, the others are not that great and some have only as much as 3 years of experience.

Fergusson College which is 125 years old is known for its classy ancient look. The campus is spread over almost 2-3 kilometres. There are 2 altogether contrasting faces of the campus. One seems like it has just come out of the 1800s with all its archaic constructions which lack in terms of infrastructure, while the other has contemporary looking buildings equipped with most modern facilities. DES Law College has one of the recent buildings which has an amphitheatre, nice classrooms, each fitted out with a projector, and huge library. There’s Wifi and wired internet connectivity in the Library. The college is really strict and expects students to stay disciplined. CCTV cameras have been installed at various places in the college to keep a watch on students’ behaviour and use of mobile phones is strictly prohibited anywhere on the campus.

Deccan Education Society's Law College, also sometimes called Fergusson Law College, is located in FC campus. FC happens to be on the most famous, happening and crowded street of Pune, FC Road. One can imagine the popularity and the magnanimity of the college as one of the streets of the big city is named after the college. Most students prefer to commute by their respective two wheelers and some big shots by even cars, while the rest use the public mode of transport, PMT buses, whose frequency is excellent and drops you to the gate. What better accessibility can you expect?

The college provides hostel for boys as well girls which is separate for the law college and not common to other courses offered at FC. The hostel is also extremely strict and students feel it’s like a jail. So it is advisable to find a PG in the nearby areas rather than to stay in the college hostels.

The college canteen is not at all up to the mark. Though the food is pretty economical, the taste and the variety is really poor, and there’s not enough space to sit too. No one prefers going to canteen, as there’s a lady who gets home made snacks to sell.

In one word, FC Road! From hundreds of restaurants and cafés to multiple road side stalls, you get every possible thing here. Students are usually seen at the very famous Vaishali and Rupali restaurant, followed by the expensive coffee chain in India, Mocha. There is a non-descript sandwich and roll waala a stone’s throw away distance from the college gate which is extremely famous among the student’s community. When you’re at FC, you need not worry on the past time.

You can’t ask for a better crowd, and to say it in the words of an FC-ite “FC hai!!” Undoubtedly, the college has students from a huge variety of backgrounds, there are students from different parts of the state, different cities of India and there are quite a few from outside the country too. Many students are seen doing other courses like CA and CS along with a degree from here. Overall the crowd is really happening and you’ll come across a lot of pretty faces every day.

Attendance is not an issue for the first years. However college is strict to the seniors and if they fall short of attendance they are made to pay fine.

DES Law College is an average college and does not follow the legacy created by FC. It’s a good choice for those who just want a degree in Law and are also pursuing side courses along with Law.
