The teaching staffs at Sinhgad College are just about average. Professors for Java and PHP are pretty good or excellent and have thorough knowledge about their subject. Faculty for commerce and software engineering is not something to boast about. Even though teaching is something you can look for at Sinhgad but major issue is always communication skills. Most of the teachers communicate in Marathi while only a few choose to speak in English. Students from other parts of the country and outside India often complain to the authorities yet no appropriate decision has been taken.

Well, the infrastructure of Sinhgad College is quite above average. The classrooms are neat and clean with comfortable benches but without air conditioner. The library is well equipped with books from all the courses offered. Sadly, social network lovers can’t use internet as there is no Wi-fi connection, even though there is an internet lab. The laboratories are pretty well maintained with all apparatus available.

Campus placements are available for BCA, B.SC (computer science) and MCA students. About 50% students get placed. Some of the main recruiters are Persistent Systems Pvt. Ltd., Vertex Software Pvt. Ltd., Zcon etc. From B.SC and M.SC Microbiology major recruiters are Evolvus Systems Pvt. Ltd, Ventri Biologicals Ltd, Genesis Labs. For M.SC (organic chemistry) some of the students were placed in Lupin pharamceuticals, Deepak Nitrite, Jubilian. From M.SC biotechnology a few students were placed in Wochardt and National Chemical Labs (NCL).

Sinhgad College of Science and Commerce, is located in Vadagaon, Pune. Even though the location of the college is famous by Vadagaon, people are used to the term Sinhgad, considering the association has institutions starting right from school to Post Graduation for all the courses. The college is located almost on a hill and is not at all easily accessible. Almost all the localities commute by two wheelers as the PMT bus frequency is horrendous. The hostilities come walking to the college.

The canteen of Sinhgad College of Science and Commerce is quite upto the mark. It serves good food at affordable prices. It’s quite spacious; hence suffocation is not an issue. In spite of a good canteen, you find most of the students in the main campus (2 minutes walking) at the very famous Amul cafeteria which serves awesome parathas, sandwiches, juices and cold coffees.

Since, the location of the college is quite in a remote area, you can’t be expecting great or even good hangouts. Most of the students prefer to chill within the campus. Those who love to travel, may go far off to the main city to places like JM Road, FC Road and Katraj.

The College has a major crowd from nearby localities of Pune. You don’t see a lot of students from the main city of Pune or other parts of Mahrashtra. Having said that, there are a lot of NRI’s, especially from Afghanistan in the Science and BBA department. Commerce section on a whole has a better crowd than science. The crowd balances their academics and extracurricular activities quite well.

Sinhgad College is pretty strict in attendance, especially for the commerce department. Students are told to maintain a 75%, failing which parents are called. In extreme cases, the exam hall ticket is withheld and on completion of attendance, it’s given back. Students usually take this as a warning but as of now no strict action has been taken.

Although the college isn’t as famous and ambitious like the Ferguson College or BMCC, the name Sinhgad (Vadgaon), follows the legacy. The college is a good bet for an average scorer. Location still remains the major issue.
