Here the case is pretty compromised. The students rate the faculty here just about average with most being fresh B.E. pass-outs lack a significant teaching experience. That’s the case for Mechanical and Comps department. Other departments also have a similar scenario, but a few senior professors are a saving grace. But all of them are very dedicated and sincere to their work. Lectures are conducted regularly and are very approachable, outside the classroom too. The notes prepared by the faculties are put up for access to students on the college website, and students find them pretty helpful.

The campus is pretty large and landscaped very well. All the departments are separated into different blocks, canteens, and sheds for different labs. Labs are furnished well, and all the equipment needed is sufficiently available. Labs are maintained well, and whatever equipment need repairs or upgrades, are done regularly. Classes are spacious, and well ventilated, benches are comfortable. The classes are not air-conditioned, but all the labs are. Internet access for students is available at the computer labs and there’s also Wi-Fi access in the A-Block, but once you need to register your device’s MAC address. Apart from social networks, there is no other restriction on your usage. The library is a superbly spacious. With a lot of seating space and simple but elegant interiors, the library makes you feel like studying. Resource center, as they call it, holds a huge volume of books, journals, e-journal subscriptions, and magazines. MBA and Engineering are separate sections and a digital Library Management System keeps a track of books issued and their position on the racks. Also the library is air-conditioned, so you know where to be to beat the heat.

The college has been very promising, and over the past 7 years (since its foundation) the placement records have been good. Not that every student get placed ‘on-campus’ but the college arranges for common pool placements with other institutes. The placement officer manages more pool placements, so that students have more scope for finding a relevant job. About 10 – 12 students manage to get a job ‘on-campus’, but if you manage about 6.5 CPI, getting a job off campus too would not be difficult. Common companies during the pool placements are TCS, L&T, Wipro, Infosys (major IT companies) who offer about 3 Lakh rupees per year. The highest a student got offered here was 4.2 Lakh Rupees a year. But again the college should get more opportunities for the core Civil and Mech branches.

Located far from both Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar, GIT is located near a small village called Moti Bhoyan. Moti Bhoyan is more famous for the two major establishments - JK Laksmhi Cement Plant and Arvind Mills setup - still the location is pretty remote. Relatively closer to Kalol, GIT is about 13KM from Gota Circle on S.G Highway and about 10KM from Ognaj Circle on the Ring Road. Northwest of Ahmedbad, although much disconnected from the commotion of city life and pollution, the college is pretty far to travel on a daily basis. College buses have been provided and the charges are Rs 14,000 per year. Most of the students travel by college buses, which is very convenient. There are also a few who get their own bikes to college. Those from other cities, stay in hostels around. 65/2 AMTS route drops you to Khatraj Chokdi, and you can walk to the college then.

The canteen is a separate shed, and looks good. The canteen is a triangular structure spacious enough to accommodate many students at a time. But the food is average and for some overpriced. By which they mean, the quantity is less for the price charged. The food and the place both are pretty hygienic nevertheless. For a change you can try the pizzas, and the Chinese here, which students say is nice.

There is nothing much immediately around the college, but that doesn’t dispirit the students anyway. People head towards Kalol most of the time to find a lot of road side food joints or eateries. There is Thol Bird Sanctuary close by and Thol Lake adjacent to it. The more enterprising ones (or those living in the city) head to malls near Satellite area. Gayatri Hotel near Khatraj is popular with students of GIT. Those travelling by college buses prefer leaving for home, else getting back on their own could be frustrating.

Being an engineering college, you can expect boys to outnumber the girls and the ratio is a decent 3:2. Students are friendly and gel along well with each other. The area is safe for girls, even later in the evenings, and transportation is also safe. Most of the students hail from Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar, and about 10-15% stays in hostels around. The overall experience of being at the college is good.

An annual tech-fest conducted at the college is called – Techxtreme. Other celebrations include, Navratri – ‘Ratri before Navratri’ is what they call it, ’Utarayan’- Kite flying festival, and an annual sports fest too. People participate with zest, and those not directly performing, come to cheer others, so you can expect the energy to be high. So overall there is some activity happening regularly all-round the year.

Top Attendance Reviews ALL Attendance REVIEWS

Things about attendance are quite strict, and students need to maintain at least 75% attendance to be eligible for the exams, without any issues. Those who end up with about 60-65% attendance are allowed, but only after calling their parents to reason for the absence. Below 50% only a strong reason can save you from a year back. Usually bunking lectures is also discouraged, and students found in the canteen during lecture hours, are usually ‘raided’ and sent back to the classes or even fined. And there is no way you could leave the campus before the day was over.

Gandhinagar Institute of Technology (GIT) has a nice campus, and the infrastructure facilities are pretty good. The faculty although is bit of issue, but the students manage. Placements on-campus has not been the best, but pool placements save the day. The college can improve a lot over these parameters. Yet it is still a better college compared to others in the area.
