ECE department is thought to be the front runner amongst all departments at HITAM. Students from other departments claim that a few junior lecturers may create hassles but it's manageable.

What started as Royal College of Engineering in Medak has now transformed into the Hyderabad Institute of Technology and Management (HITAM), located in a sprawling 11-acre campus at Medchal. The campus is really impressive. Basketball courts, volleyball courts and a rink-football ground are lined up on either sides of the entrance pathway. Academic blocks appear urban and boast eco-friendly classrooms, near-perfect labs, digital library and Internet access through Wi-Fi. It's absolutely flawless, except that hostels are missing.

This is where Hyderabad Institute of Technology and Management (HITAM) falls behind some of the finest engineering colleges in Hyderabad. Although decent opportunities are at hand, the quality of students that the institute produces deserve better. HCL, Mahindra Satyam, IBM and Infosys are the major recruiters gobbling up 50-80 students from every batch. A dozen more are picked up by another 5-6 companies that visit the campus. However, many students look for bigger opportunities off campus and some have succeeded into getting jobs with salary packages of over Rs 6 lakh per annum!

Probably the cheapest way to reach Hyderabad Institute of Technology and Management (HITAM) is to take that 'one' RTC bus which drops you 700 metres from the campus. Unfortunately, this RTC bus isn't available from all areas and even if it did you'd have to think of alternate ways to commute if you missed it one fine morning.
So then you change a couple of buses and somehow reach Gandimaisamma 'X' Roads. There you wait till your share auto stuffs in at least 5 more people than it's recommended capacity. And finally, take a 10-buck bumpy ride to the college.
OR you simply pay 15K a year for a luxurious seat in that yellow college bus and take an hour's nap while it ferries you to the campus.

It's small and gets crowded during lunch time. Students complain that few varieties are on offer and they include NO non-vegetarian items (except egg). Prices are affordable and ice-creams are the most recommended.

According to students, a couple of dhabas around the campus like woodland, divan, zee serve sumptuous north-Indian food (which we obviously didn't try) and the food stall outside the campus, popularly known as the 'outside canteen' is great for a quick snack.

Hyderabad Institute of Technology and Management (HITAM) attracts a lot of city-dwellers and the resultant crowd is urban, interactive and friendly. There's equal focus on entertainment, co-curricular development and academics. "You can expect to have a good time with friends while still recording above average scores" some students told Stupidsid.

A minimum of 65% attendance is mandatory but it's best to have over 75% if you do not wish to get into any trouble. Hyderabad Institute of Technology and Management (HITAM) is strict at times but considers students with genuine reasons. Numerous protocols like Id-Cards to be worn at all times, certain dress codes to be followed etc. often take a toll on the students.
