Students are the best judge of a teacher, and when you ask the students here about the faculty, they say they’re the BEST. Very famous for its English, and Psychology faculty, the rest are not behind either. Also the university toppers also are most of the times, from JMC. The professors are easily approachable and available on and Off-campus, contact them after lectures, or stop them during the lecture they’re always ready to help. Nice people teaching out there. Although, from the side of the students, only students from B.com don’t respond at par with the level of teaching the faculties provide, as they really don’t care much.
A special note about the faculty taking classes for masters’ students is that they are given extra tutorials with teachers paying attention to every individual, so much so that they go out of their way to help the students over the internet through emails, and msging.

The infrastructure of Jesus and Mary College is excellent, and can without doubt be among the best in DU colleges. As the college is built on rocks, there is a gradual increase in altitude as you go deeper inside the college. Classrooms are huge and spacious, and there are green gardens all around. Large areas of open lawns and gardens make the environment very student friendly, and that’s what makes you fall in love with the college. The 3 storey library of JMC is good, and students go on to say that it’s even better than any other south campus college library, with separate sections for UG and PG students, and there is enough seating available too. Book bank facility is also available for the needy students. Although there is no Wi-fi in the campus, Students and faculty members can access internet at desktops computers in the Library. The air-conditioned labs are decent, and are all equipped with LCD projectors, and printers, and connected to the internet as well.

No points for guessing, placements at JMC are 100%. To give you an idea about the kind of companies that come here, Google, Facebook, Ernst & Young, Oberoi Hotels, Deloitte are regular hirers. Generally it is observed that students pursuing, B.Com and B.A. opt for the placements, but you can be sure that you will get a high paying job, if you’re here.

Although the Chanakyapuri area is definitely quite posh, it isn’t the greatest in terms of connectivity. Jesus & Mary College is not accessible by the metro, and the nearest bus stop (called Satya Niketan) is a Rs.10 rickshaw ride away. Although most students prefer walking and the road leading to the college is called Jesus and Mary Marg the entire walk would just be just about a kilometre.

The college does not have its own hostel, so students who are not from Delhi; have to manage PG accommodation, in the nearby areas of Satya Niketan or R.K.Puram.

Satya Niketan is perhaps the only place to chill nearby. Students mention the Rail Museum, but we’re sure no one would want to go there more than once. If you or one of your friends have a car then a lot of hangouts await you at South-Ex, Defence Colony (popular as Def Col), DU south campus and Rajouri Garden. CCD at South-ex the most popular place and students frequently visit there. When you’re considering going far, you can even go to Khan Market or Connaught Place (CP) for some mindless window shopping.

At JMC there is a 50% reservation for students belonging to Christian community, so you can expect half of your friends to be catholic. But apart from that, it’s a mixture of people from various backgrounds, some conservative, so more outgoing, so nerdy, some careless. And it also depends on your course, what type of people are around you. Police Vans patrol the area all the time, because the road outside the college can tend to get lonely, in the evenings, and Chankyapuri, Satya Niketan are not safe to venture out alone. Also students from JMC are quite active at the university elections.

The annual festival of Jesus and Mary College is called ‘Montage’ and is celebrated around January every year. ‘Montage’ is an inter-college festival with events and competition involving Music, Arts, Dance, Drama, Debates. The festivals as students say is A BIG Event, and is packed with fun. Apart from the college festival, every department has their own festival too. Various religious festivals, like Christmas and Diwali are also celebrated at the college with a lot of enthusiasm. The college even hosts a Sports Day.

That’s one thing the college is very particular about. You need to attend at least 66% that is set by the University of Delhi, failing which you can invite a lot of troubles. Worst case scenario would be that you shall not be allowed to appear for the exams. Nothing fake would work here, so better stay cautious and keep your attendance fairly over the 66% mark. However if you have genuine reasons, and you show them the documents, say for a sick leave, they are considerate enough.
