Established way back in 1955, Kirori Mal College has an excellent teaching faculty. Most of the teachers have got atleast 20-30 years of experience while there are a few with new recruitments who need polishing. Faculty to student ratio is pretty less. Most of the teachers are busy doing some research or the other. Some or almost all have got multiple degrees, while a few are certified scientists. The lectures are conducted thoroughly in English while some choose to communicate in Hindi as well.

The decently large campus of KMC has a lush green garden on one side and a parking lot on the other. There are various trees within the campus provides a perpetual cool shade. The college has two main red brick buildings with an average infrastructure. Some classrooms are equipped with an air conditioner and have comfortable wooden benches. The washrooms are just about neat and clean. The air conditioned library is well equipped with books of all possible courses offered at the college. The campus is wifi enabled and there are various internet labs as well.

When a college is situated in North Campus of Delhi, the college is certainly of some calibre. Thus, placements are pretty awesome, especially for Commerce and Economics course. Big names like Google, Technova, Microsoft, SAIL, Airforce, and a lot from the banking sectors as well are seen in the college during the placement season. The salary offered is roughly around 3-4 laksh per annum and the highest was around 6 lakhs.

Located in the North Campus of Delhi University (DU), Kirori Mal College is situated right at the end of the main lane of the campus. The nearest metro station is Vishwavidyala (Yes, the name of the station is because of the university and thus one can understand how famous and reputed the campus is) on the Yellow Line and is a minute walk from the main gate of the campus. There are hundreds of cycle rickshaws right at the gate of the university and outside every college within the North campus which charge you Rs. 10. The DTC bus frequency, especially for the North campus, is pretty awesome and drops you to the college gate at a mere cost of Rs. 10. Some prefer to come by their private vehicles as there is enormous parking space. In short, accessibility is not a problem and connectivity is superb.
NOTE: There is a bicycle stand right outside the gate of the university which provides bicycles on a rental basis. The cost is Rs. 10 for four hours. Can’t expect anything cheaper than this!

The college provides facility for boys as well girls hostel, though the room allotment is done on a pretty weird basis. Firstly, hostel seats are allotted according to marks. Secondly, toppers get royally treated as they get a single seater room while the rest have to share. The rental charges are around Rs. 35,000 per year which includes mess food as well. The hostel facilities are pretty typical with students complaining regarding water and washrooms regularly. Guess, it’s a part of the Indian college hostels. Overall, students love the campus and hostel life.

The KMC canteen is pretty big and well-spaced, though the food is pretty average. There is a good variety of food served at affordable prices in the canteen. Sometimes, the food is cold but students are pretty satisfied with the canteen.

At the North campus, you can expect one of the best hangouts at Kamla Nagar Market. There are various coffee chains like CCD and Barista, several fresh fruit juice parlours, chole bhatures roadside and many more. The Ridge is generally jam packed with lovely couples of all the colleges within the campus. J.P ta stall at Delhi School of Economics (DSE) is also one of the common hangouts for all the students.

As the college is affiliated to Delhi University (DU), most of the students are from the local city and other parts of the NCR. Students from other parts of India and foreign countries are seen in the Arts course. Despite not an engineering college, there are more number of boys, though girls also are in decent numbers. The crowd at KMC is pretty mixed and gels with each other really well. Most of them come from a humble and decent background and one don’t see a lot of hi-fi crowd here. There’ve been no cases in the past related to ragging though causal ones are seen here and there.

'Renaissance', the annual festival of Kirori Mal College, is held in February and is quite popular within the North Campus. There are separate festivals for ever department as well.

Attendance at KMC is pretty weird but is smart and sensible. Students have to maintain atleast 67% throughout the year failing which students won’t get marks allotted for attendance. Above 75%, marks are proportionate to your attendance on the scale of 5. Below 50% students are not allowed to give the exams and the university has done that in the past. All in all, students have to maintain a good attendance record at KMC.
