The college has Arts and Commerce streams, which means there is no Science taught here. SBS College is renowned for its commerce faculty, which students say is probably the best in Delhi. While that is, no doubt, an absolute exaggeration, it is safe to say that the professors are highly qualified and very experienced. The arts faculty is relatively just about okay, with more junior professors than senior, and they are way nicer to studious bookworms than average (rubbish) students. Grudges are held often, and can translate into lower internal marks sometimes.

While the infrastructure here is nothing to be too proud of, fortunately the students are quite happy. Classrooms are well ventilated, the fans work more often than not, and the computer labs are airconditioned. They have a functional library, but normally students need to search elsewhere for books. But a huge ground and enough opportunities to pursue sports ensure that students keep themselves busy.

Shaheed Bhagat Singh College is located in the famous Sheikh Serai area, and is a 10-15 minute ride away from Malviya Nagar metro station, which means it is counted in the South Campus of Delhi University. Although a number of students come by their own vehicles, you can always find more than a handful of students using the direct buses like 534 and 581 from the metro station.

The highly unhygienic canteen serves up exactly what you would expect of it – some delicious food. Reasonably priced with high quantity – low quality food, the canteen is normally overflowing with students. The wide variety of foods ensures that most students tend to stay within college rather than go out to chill. Speaking of which…

The nearby cluster of malls at Saket is definitely the most obvious place for students to hang out. To name a couple of malls, MGF Metropolitan, Select Citywalk, etc.

The college operates in the morning as well as the evening, and there’s a huge amount of difference in the kind of people you find in either session. The morning crowd is rather ‘hi-fi’, as the evening students put it, and come in big, flashy cars. It’s Delhi, and rowdiness isn’t uncommon; every once in a while you would find someone making a nuisance of himself (or herself) in college. The evening crowd, by contrast, is far more down to earth, and students tend to maintain a comparatively low profile. The common factor about both sessions is that everyone is really friendly, but can be just the opposite if you get into their wrong books.

Although nothing seems to happen eventually (thanks to the easily-buyable medical certificates), the college ensures that students maintain a decent level of attendance. Parents are called if attendance falls below permissible limits, which is normally about 65%.

The crowd here really likes their college, but not everyone in the world will. If you can get into the North Campus, you should probably strike this one off your list.
