The teaching here is said to be good. The commerce faculty includes senior professors with 10-15 years of experience. Students from B.Sc., however seem to be just about satisfied with their faculty. “Many professors are with just 2-3 years of experience; they teach well, but lack of experienced teachers is felt by us” quotes a student.

The campus is well maintained with air conditioned laboratories. Library is big and has a good collection of books. Although the campus is Wi-fi enabled, only the PGDM & MMS students are allowed to use it. Yes, you can expect step motherly treatment but they are paying much more.

Only students with an aggregate of above 60% are eligible. In commerce only the top 20 students are placed. Few campus placements are offered and most students either look around for jobs themselves or go for further studies. B.Sc. IT/CS students are offered decent placements with companies like Wipro (major recruiter), Patni and Tech Mahindra visiting the campus.

Located conveniently close to Panvel Railway Station, Pillai’s campus is a cool 10 minute walk from the tracks. If you wish to save even more time, and spend some more money, you could take a rickshaw which would get you there in not more than a couple of minutes.

The canteen at M.E.S. Pillai’s College of Arts, Commerce & Science is of an acceptable standard, with edible and more importantly, affordable, food. The canteen is shared amongst all the institutes at the campus.

A major issue here is the hangouts, or rather the lack of them. Most people end up driving to Karnala or Lonavala, both of which are half an hour away. Chilling at Kharghar is an option too, but there’s not a hell of a lot to do there either.

You can see a Mallu dominated crowd because of the linguistic minority reservation. The crowd is quite enthusiastic. There are some extra-curricular activities taking place on the campus and taking part in them is a good experience. Most of the events/clubs are under the student council except for the NSS which is headed by faculty members.

‘Xpression’ is the festival organized by the commerce department of Pillai’s College of Arts, Commerce & Science. It is usually held in the end of January. The college also hosted the University festival in 2010. Science department doesn’t have a festival it can call its own, but students can participate in various other festivals happening in the campus.

Top Attendance Reviews ALL Attendance REVIEWS

Attendance, as in the other Pillai’s institutes, is quite strict. Students are expected to follow the 75% norm. For commerce, the students with less than 60% are made to write additional papers, and failure to even manage 40% will cause you to not appear for the exam. In science, parents are summoned if attendance requirement is not met.

Fun, Education and Entertainment is how the students sum the college as. You can see a good balanced environment. The infra and facilities is a major plus point.
