Since it’s a girls college, majority of the faculty is female as well. There is a good mix of senior and junior professors, all of whom are quite friendly and never hold grudges. The teaching is excellent, although communication is predominantly in English, which may be a problem for vernacular-medium students. Students feel that the faculty is one of the best in Delhi University (DU) and they rate the Macro-economics teacher as the best of the lot while the one for Micro-economics is not that great.

The Infrastructure of Maitreyi College is very good and students feel it’s much better than the most other DU colleges. Although the campus is not too big, it is pretty with gardens surrounding the typical Delhi style Red bricks building. Once you enter the building you’ll find that it is not as good as it seems from the outside. The classrooms are just average and benches are not exactly comfortable. They are ill ventilated and don’t be shocked if you find pigeons and bees making their homes in your classrooms. The library is pretty good – you normally find whatever you need. Laboratories are excellent; most of the equipment works more often than not. There is a huge separate room for seminars. Apart from the reference books you can also find readings prepared by your teachers, which are precisely as per the syllabus and come in handy during the exams. The campus is Wi-fi enabled but you can use it only for educational purposes and you have to obtain permissions to unlock it.

The classrooms are big enough to accommothate the students. Each and every classrooms have windows and yes, there is enough ventilation.

Maitreyi college is not accessible by the metro, and the nearest bus stop (called Satya Niketan) is a Rs.10 rickshaw ride away. About 80% of the students prefer to travel by bus, while the remaining travel by their own cars.

The canteen is quite crowded most of the time, in spite of not exactly being too great. It does, however, have an excellent variety of options. The Chowmein, (priced at Rs. 15) students will tell you, is fantastic. The only complain students have about the canteen is that they don’t serve non-veg food.

Satya Niketan is perhaps the only place to chill nearby. Students mention the Rail Museum, but we’re sure no one would want to go there more than once. If you or one of your friends have a car then a lot of hangouts await you at South-ex, Defence Colony (popular as Def Col), DU south campus and Rajouri Garden. CCD at South-ex the most popular place and students frequently visit there.

The nanotechnology department at Maitreyi College is co-ed, so you do see boys once in a while. Other departments are girls-only, and while you do obviously have some amount of ‘bitchyness’, all in all the crowd is quite good. The college being only girls’ college, you will find some of the girls a little conservative, especially those pursuing Hindi and Sanskrit Hons. Some of them find it hard mixing with the other crowd. Most of the girls are quite sincere, so don’t expect to have an absolute blast.

They do hold an intercollege fest, by the name 'Rhapsody' in the month of February, but it doesn't exactly turn out to be an intercollege fest, as hardly any one comes to participate from other colleges. In fact the college students themselves are not very enthusiastic about the festival and the organising committee doesn't get sponsors to fund it. But the Miss Maitreyi Contest – for freshers – gets all of the headlines.

Quite strict. The stipulated figure is 67%, but if it ever goes below 60% you’re in big big trouble. Fortunately, students tend to maintain over 80% (that’s what you get in an all-girls college), so there are hardly any cases where action has to be taken. Note that you cannot enter classes late – teachers are very particular about punctuality.
