About 30% of the faculties are senior and experienced, the rest have very less or zero experience. Many students aren’t happy with the faculty at hand; in fact one audacious bloke went on to mouth these words, “Even I know more than some of my teachers”. Only commendable quality of teachers is that they are hard-workers and put in full efforts in teaching. ECE is said to have better faculties among all branches.

Campus of NSIT Jetalpur is not huge but it isn’t small either. “They could have utilized the area at hand in a much better way” that’s the sentiment most students share. They also feel that the campus is congested and in only 2 buildings they have cramped all departments. These buildings are in near dilapidated condition from outside and from inside too they are far from being swanky. Classrooms do not have enough fans and the heat takes its toll on students during summers. Labs, library and other facilities also are just okay; not up to the mark. Library has a shortage of books and labs have instruments that aren’t working smoothly. Sports facilities are very poor; almost nil.

NSIT Jetalpur isn’t very old and only a few batches have come out. Till now the scenario is decent and about 30% of the students get placements. Average package was around 1.5 Lakh per annum. Placements are expected to improve as more companies will pour in for recruitments.

Narnarayan Shastri Institute of Technology (NSIT) is located near a small village called Jetalpur, some 15 km south of Ahmedabad on NH8. Being outside Ahmedabad, there are no AMTS buses plying till here. Hence most of the students travel by BRTS up to Narol and take a sharing auto for Rs 7 from there. Almost 20% of the students prefer to travel by their bikes. College also provides buses for convenience of students but very few opt for this service as it is very expensive.

There is a hostel in the campus. It is managed by Swaminarayan Gurukul and thus all inmates need to follow their disciplinary rules such as waking up at 5 am, doing Yoga daily etc. Condition of hostel is decent and mess food is also proper. Charges for hostel are Rs 30,000 a year, all inclusive.

Narnarayan Shastri Institute of Technology’s canteen is one of the worst canteens that you’d find in any engineering college across the city. It is small, shady and there are no dishes which are liked by students. Not even water.

The college is located on a national highway, 15 km from the city and there’s nothing except dhabas and pan-patti that you can find nearby.

Majority of the crowd is from the city of Ahmedabad especially from southern areas like Bapunagar, Maninagar & Narol. You’ll find very few nerds; in fact people hardly study here as everyone is perpetually busy devising some or other mischief. Girls are almost half in number than boys and they don’t mingle with boys easily. They form their own groups and speak to boys only formally.

Students are keen on arranging cultural, technical and sports festivals separately but management is reluctant to co-operate. Only technical fest did actually take place and it too was not great.

A slight relaxation, say about 5% is permissible in the attendance norm of 75%. Below that they’ll trouble you with extra assignments during term end and below 50% you’ll stand at risk of getting detained. They are very particular about timing and don’t allow anyone to enter college premises later than 15 minutes or to leave it before the college gets over. However if you are smart enough just like your seniors, you can find ways to bunk college by jumping over the compound walls. There are fines for various stuffs, most common being caught with a mobile phone; for which there is a fine of 500.
