Most of the teachers in Wadia College of Arts and Science are extremely qualified and have a deep knowledge about their subject. You will meet a lot of professors who are quite co-operative, while some are so strict that it’s better to keep a hand away distance from them. Undoubtedly, Arts faculty are great speakers and way qualified in their command over English. Sometimes, communication is a problem in the Science department and you do hear a lot of Hindi+Marathi at times. Also, “Punctuality and irregular lectures is an issue sometimes”, complains a student. However, it’s one of the best in town for BSc (IT & CS).

Wadia College has a huge campus for a very simple reason that it covers all possible courses starting from Junior College for Arts, Science and Commerce, Degree College, Engineering, MBA, BMS and BMM. The Arts and Science building looks like a carving from the early 1900. In spite of an ancient look, the classrooms are pretty neat & clean with benches in just above average condition. The Science labs are well equipped with all the apparatus but the library is sometimes short of a few books. There is no wifi in the Science and Arts building but there are few Internet labs to compensate for the internet part. And interestingly the college provides hostel facility not only for the students, but the staff as well.

Sadly, there are no placements for Arts. BSc in CS (commonly called as BCS in Pune) or BSc in IT students generally get placed in TCS, Cap Gemini and Persistent. All placements are based on eligibility and probably 20-30% are usually eligible.

Wadia College is probably one of the oldest and renowned colleges in Pune. It is located in the very heart of Pune, in one of the busiest areas of Pune and is 10 minutes away from Pune railway station. Even though the college is pretty famous, the most common landmark for this institution is Bund Garden. Every 5 minutes, you see a PMT bus passing through the Wadia College road. In spite of an amazing frequency of PMT buses, you find most of the students commuting by bikes, perhaps for more convenience or may be just to show it off.

Good food and spacious but during lunch times it becomes very crowded as the campus is shared by five other colleges. Students say that the noodles are ‘to die for’.

Bund Garden food stall are the hot favourites amongst Wadia students. Apart from that Koregaon Park, Kalyani Nagar and Dhole Patil road are one of the best food places where you can get unlimited variety at almost all possible costs.

Most of the students are from Pune city and in the nearby localities. Rarely you see a student coming from the outskirts of Pune to Wadia college. The college has a less intake of outside Pune or Maharashtra. Surprisingly, you see a lot of NRI’s in this college, mostly Afghanis or from the SAARC communities. Overall, the crowd is pretty much balanced and gives equal time to studies and festival activities.
The crowd is lively and fun to be with. Few nerds are found in every class, but that’s the case in any college. “Timepass crowd hai!” quotes a student.

It differs for each department. For Science courses, absolutely no requirement to fulfill any criteria and students are let go with as low as 10% attendance. However, if lectures are interesting, the students themselves wish to attend. But for other departments, Wadia college is extremely strict in attendance matters. They say 75% is compulsory, and they mean it. If your attendance is below 60%, you’re not given the exam form. In extreme case, your parents are called, fine is to be paid and only after that you’re allowed to sit for the exams.

Except for the placements (which is still better as compared to other Pune institutions), the college is a good bet for anyone. Take it, if you make it!
