While most of the faculty here are inexperienced fresher, there are a handful of seniors who are really good at what they teach. ECE is the department where students have least complaints towards their faculties as maximum number of senior and knowledgeable teachers are here. Overall faculty can be rated as average.

Silver Oak College doesn’t have an enormous campus but it is sufficiently large to conduct all the academic activities with ease. It is equipped with non-ac classes and air-conditioned labs. Library has many books, most of which being reference books aren’t used frequently by the students. It is not too spacious but then not many students go there anyways. There is no internet access for students in entire college. There’s plenty of facilities for sports – table tennis, volleyball, cricket, gymkhana and a gymnasium – everything is there.
Overall the infra is good but there certainly is a scope for improvement.

Silver Oak College Engineering & Technology (SOCET) is located about 1km off the SG Highway near Gota Cross. The nearest bus stop is Bhagwat Vidyapeeth and many buses from almost all parts of city ply till here. There is also a college bus from Gandhinagar. However most of the students are seen using their own vehicles.

Being so close to SG Highway, students of Silver Oak have many options for hangout nearby. Right from street food to multiplex, everything is there at a bike ride away. But to go and enjoy there becomes difficult due to gate-pass system.

Majority of the crowd (about 80%) is from Ahmedabad. Rest are the hostelites coming from all over the state. There are many nerds, about half of the crowd comprises of them. Others are social, interactive and capable of balancing their studies with other activities. There are many sports enthusiasts too. Like most engineering colleges, there are less girls than boys but they aren’t reserved and shy. Girl-boy interaction is very healthy.

Attendance is taken seriously in this college and not more than 5% shortage is accepted. Seniors say that earlier it was possible to bunk easily but many people also got detained. Now the new principal has made it very difficult to bunk and thus no one really falls short of attendance. Other disciplinary rules too have been brought in – no one can enter the college without an id-card, id-card has to be worn all the time while in college, you can’t come late, you can’t leave early etc. Etc.
