The college teachers have a lot of history to tell the students, as many of them have been with the college since a really long time. You would be surprised by knowing that one professor has even taught Shahrukh Khan, and Amitabh Bacchan (although not at this college), but is here since long too. All the faculty members are very experienced, and there are no fresher professors at the college. All of them are very friendly, and always ready to solve any doubts that students’ would have. And all the teachers can certainly teach well and their experience shows. The students are very happy with the faculty, and are absolutely satisfied with what they learn here.

The architecture of the building and the Crimson Red Bricks used, give it a typical Delhi Campus feel. Although the campus is not HUGE, but it utilizes all the space it has very well. With academic blocks spread around the campus that have plants along the alleys, that make it look really classy. The cricket field is well maintained, and the pitch is regularly treated by the cricket academy of the college. As you enter the college premise, the structure you notice on the left is a state-of-the-art auditorium, and the students make full use of it. There is a separate 3 storeyed library building, and students would rate it number 1 library among all DU and IPU Colleges. The library building is centrally air-conditioned, and the space inside has been utilized well too, such that it can seat more students. The classrooms are comfortable, although not air-conditioned, but well ventilated. In the labs, if you were to count the number of machines, there is one machine available for each student (which is generally not the scene at most colleges). All the required software is installed, and all the machines are updated to Windows 7.

Guru Gobind Singh College being considered as one of the top college in the Delhi University, the placements don’t disappoint either. 95% students get placed on-campus. The college spends a lot of time, and efforts to ensure that good and reputed companies come to the campus to recruit their students. To name a few companies visiting, Naukri.com, Wipro, TCS have been here. The students apart from campus placements are also eligible for placements, at the Central Placement Cell (CPC) of the DU, in the North Campus. The salaries offered here would start with anything above Rs. 2 Lakh a year.

The college is located at 2-minute walking distance from Netaji Subhash Place (NSP) metro station on the Red line. For those who would prefer travelling by DTC buses, there is a bus stop named after the college, so you can judge the connectivity of the place by that. It is located right behind the huge and magnificent TV Tower of the Doordarshan on one side, and the metro railway lines on the other side. The college is very famous as a landmark itself. Getting here by whatever means will never be an issue for anyone. The number of people travelling by the metro would be one third, one third prefers getting their own vehicles and the remaining take a bus to the college.

The canteen appears to be large and spacious, but when it comes to the number of people it can seat, it is not as big. Around 30-35 people can sit at a time. There is a CCD Express too that’s right opposite the canteen, where you can pick up fast food type snacks. The canteen is big & spacious, but the space could have been utilised better. You get snacks, Dosas, Chole bhature, Rajma chawal, Chinese, Kathi Rolls at the canteen, so basically having meals is also not an issue.

The college campus itself is a beautiful place to chill with friends, that you would actually have to push yourself to hangout anywhere else. But whenever you do so, there are infinite options around the college, with Delhi Haat being the closest. There are a lot of malls, on the other side of the metro line, where you can just roam around. Fun Cinemas, and Movie time and DT Cinema multiplexes are also a nice option. At the NSP metro station, there is Domino’s, McDonalds and KFC where you go. If you plan to bunk the entire day, Adventure Island at Rithala is the best option.

Majority of students here hail from Sikh families, and are really sweet when it comes to being friends with them. In fact there is a 5% relaxation for Sikh students with respect to the normal cut-offs. The entire campus is smoke-free, so you can have a pleasant time chilling in the clean and beautiful campus with your friends. You don’t need to call your seniors, SIR/Madam, which is quite stupid, a trend. And also ragging is a strict NO, and it’s followed too. Most of the students are from Delhi itself and around 30% students are outside Delhi, and by that we mean from different parts of India. Pitampura area is basically a posh locality, and it is safe for girls to venture out late in the evening around the college. And going by what students say, SGSSCC is the best college for B.B.A(BE), and 2nd best for B.Sc. The college also have a lot of famous alumni which could include Ishant Sharma and Gautam Gambhir.

There is always some kind of celebration happening in the college, so there is never a long period of dullness, as something or the other keeps coming where students can get involved, apart from studies. ‘Trojan’ is a cultural festival DU celebrates here in honour of a handicapped teacher and it has a lot of cultural – Music, arts, dace type events organised for students. All the cultural activities take place in the state-of-the-art air-conditioned auditorium. There are a lot of dramatics activities conducted by this group called, ‘Manch Tantra’ and they have won prizes at various national level competitions at BITS, and IIM’s

Although the University has set the attendance norm at 66%, the college is a little too strict when it comes to implementing the norm. Students say that a minimum of 85% attendance is needed to sail through the semester smoothly. In the event of you falling short of 85% you would have to pay a fine of anything between Rs.1,000 – Rs.5,000. In extreme cases you get a year back, so better be regular at attending.
